This week's scale is called "Raga Megh" (2-3-2-3-1-1). The hexatonic version. I think it sounds pretty good when you play two notes at the same time because it's got it all: 1s 2s and 3s. The variety of intervals makes the two-note harmony sound interesting. I just can't place what emotion it conveys so this song is pretty short. Supposedly it's for a rainy scene.

I tried to make this in the style of a Spyro the Dragon OST.

This week has been a nightmare. I only had a 4 hour window to make something yesterday and I rushed out some acoustislop finger picking in DADGAD and slapped some whistling on top and called it music.

Today should be my final day of roadie shit for a bit. It's been hell. Setups and teardowns across the city as early as 6am and ending as late as 4am the next day. I finished tearing down a wedding band at the Crystal at 4:30am and here I am getting ready for more teardowns at 9am today. The only thing getting me through this was the thought that I'd actually wind up with some cash to enjoy summer a little, but no, my AC just died and is unrepairable so must be replaced.

Going for a 155bpm bass funk braindance thing this week. Tried to weave together three mono synth to some sort of counterpoint/hocketing riff. Added the digital sounding voice synth melody on top for some more interest. Main bass is Volca FM, bleepy arpeggios is Behringer Model D, syncopated percussive bass is TTSH. Microfreak for top line.

Recorded live to stereo through a Mackie w/OTO BAM for FX, slightly mastered in Ableton.

Mina the hollower has occupied more of my free time lately than I'd like to admit. Seems only reasonable I give it a crack at some old fashion beeps n boops. This was a very by numbers rendition of some megaman, mina, castlevania ripoff...I wish.

Once again I joined in on the WBFSC Challenge. This piece started, weirdly, as inspired by the Sirens theme from The Odyssey. The first chord part I wrote used ideas from this, mainly odder rhythm and noise envelope bursts (which was tricky to program at first). So I had a bassline, basic drumbeat and said chords initially, then the sample pack was released for this week and I went a bit full tilt on it. Piece ballooned to about 40 distinct tracks and I got super into automating various bits and distorted and filtering all the samples to get stuff sounding weird and right.

Audio recorded atop of a busy mountain in the middle of somewhere. People were busy, hustling by, buses screeching, kids screaming, wind blowing. I kept mashing the noise makers, feedback delay upon saturated distortion. Resampling into Ableton Live, I did not render myself to steal any inauthentic sounds from the physical universe to create out of my pure imagination.
