Early in our dating, my wife encouraged me to learn this song so we could play it together. We only performed for ourselves, in dorms or occasionally with friends, but it's still an important song to us. This cover is based on the original arrangement, which just entered the public domain this year.

For this vocal performance, my wife is using the stage name DJ Fancy Pants.

* Wooden egg shakers played against my legs are the only percussion

* Guitar solo is a cheap Spenser SG-500 acoustic, which is also the first guitar I ever owned

* I made lots of use of Audacity's real-time effects, particularly compression and reverb

It was a weird week shifting between a lack of focus and a couple of short runs of hyperfocus. I started a d&b tune on Sunday night, got uptight about it by Tuesday, then pivoted late in the week after a friend told me that MPC received a version 3.9 update.

I doodled out the MPC drums at 130 and then brought everything into Logic for some additional flavors. The pad is a straight drop in from a sample pack. The acid patch came out of Analog Lab. The e-piano is Zenology. The vocal is from Riya's Loopmasters. The zaps and bloops and little bass stabs are all sample pack one shots. There was/is a huge amount of low end on the MPC kick. That forced the other bass (gforce SEM) into a bit of a supporting role.

Overall, this was a somewhat cliched trance/prog effort, but I liked the groove. It needs work to get a professional polish, but I am pleased with the compositional bones. It was also nice to sequence something out into a full song for once.

This song was requested by someone else again, this week it's Asante_13, a very nice guy I don't mind calling friend. The request was "maybe something cosy?", and so that's what it became. Well over 6 minutes of cozy chipmetal.

I'm sure it can be twice as cozy and twice as long without the chipmetal, but I'm doing chipmetal, so it's cozy chipmetal.

Started out going for something a bit more garage than this, but it's funny how these things evolve and find their own way. The drums are still there, but thats about it.

Enjoyed using a poly-ensanble VST on this for the stringer chords, I'll probably come back to that in future.

Was going to make this one a bit more dynamic and go bigger, but it's late and not sure things would get any better dragging it on.

Wanted to get into this earlier but had a disrupted week.

Got a few now that need a little more than last min attention i'd like to get through, so guess i'll need to up the organisation.
