This guitar part came surprisingly easily to me today, but the words are simply not flowing. Even trying to write a description seems harder than usual today. But we keep on keeping on! Such is the spirit of weeklybeats.

I feel like the focus of this week has been cherishing my friends (wow that would have been a really good theme to write a song about... damn, noted for next time). Friends I haven't seen in a while. Friends I haven't seen in even longer. Friends I see all the time. All of them wonderful. I started doing some drawings and watercolours for the first time in years! I've missed making art - I think I set the bar too high for myself and I could probably benefit from applying some of the lessons learned from weeklybeats to it. Otherwise I spent a lot of the week trying to slow down, not to overthink, and also trying to chase an express post parcel that was trying to be delivered to the old office.

I think that's all for now! Hope you are all doing well out there. Guitar is still in the same tuning from last week (DADAC#E?) with a capo. Lyrics were largely improvised.

Edit: this week I multi tracked the zoom h4 recorder because I liked how it sounded on the room recordings of guitar and vocals I've been doing. Sadly I think this has made the mix come out wayyy to treble heavy, and maybe the vocal tracking hasn't been as consistent. A worthwhile experiment!

One take performance on the OP-XY.  This is a reworking of an earlier piece I uploaded called the The Last Emperor.  Here I sampled one note from my custom Falcon patch into the OP-XY, created 3 separate tracks and used it to create all the tonal sounds plus the crispy hihat sound.  The rest of the beats were from what I already had on the OP-XY.

I fed the OP-XY into the Oto Boum and Bam for some realtime processing during the performance.

This one began as a sample challenge with a friend ...and I ended up deleting the sample. :P

Kicks, snare, tops are from Maschine. A couple Oberheim VSTs got used. A couple Analog Lab things became arpeggios. I really liked this Blade Runnery lead, and I liked how the breakdown came together. But overall I'm kind of uninterested by the rest. I'm not really keen on how the beats came out. I'm not sure if I like this bass rhythm. So moving on to Week 33...
