I liked the sample from last week, but decided to build a second track around it. Pretty happy with the way this came out.

Super sleepy this week and feeling a little uninspired so I got so,e weird presets and threw them together into an arthouse interpretive dance mash of simple chaos.

The last several weeks have been pretty stressful, and it looks likely that at least the next few will be pretty stressful as well, but I'm hoping to get a little breather before the end of the year.  You never know with the curveballs life likes to throw though.  Anyway, just kind of used this track as an excuse to rant/blow off steam a little.

Week 38

Goal at start 9/17

Use a reference song for drum patterns.

My drum reference for this was Westfield by Bladee.

Recreating this pattern (an approximation at least) definitely gave my rhythm brain a good challenge and it’s clear I need to do this more.

BarristerPlong lives not that far away from where I rehearse with my good friend Niko. We arranged that he bring his very cool headless guitar and come to jam with us last Thursday.

Before the jam, I did hook up 3 mics (one pointing to the drums, one close cab for both guitars). "Drum mic" really is a room mic that gets everything, but it is good enough to start with something.

It was very fun, we did do a "slowish", powerful rock-blues in A with cool fuzz and distortion...

It was pretty decent as it was, but maybe kind of repetitive? so I just added some synth-bass and edrums to have a bit more diversity. It is super fun to play with new people, and Mr Plong was not an exception.

ROCK!

This track was actually pretty tricky to produce. Not because it was super complicated or anything, but because I almost fell asleep from the relaxed vibe more than once.

I know that sounds bananas, but that's honestly how it was.
