This is another collaboration with an earlier version of myself - and another quick one-take. The three first lines of lyrics were written by my 19-year-old self, taken from an old notebook. In singing, it really evolved from there and spontaneously took surprising turns, felt quite cathartic to sing it out. Hope you can get some of that energy in listening as well.
› Lyrics‹ Lyrics
No, you didn't break my heart
You just beat it up
It's like I have Chinese shoes in my chest
slowly shifting the shape or the veins
to keep my heart small
but hey, it's helping in the end, right?
No, you didn't break my heart
You just beat it up and installed
these Chinese shoes in my heart
to keep it small
to keep it contained, but
I will break it free again
I will destroy these shoes, the constraints
Chinese shoes in my heart
That was a good start, but
it's time to change, again
it's time to believe that
I could hold multitudes, I already am
It's time to unravel
No, you didn't break my heart
You just beat it up
to make it stronger
to make it stronger
You know, like those vases
that get destroyed, time and time again
and they melt liquid gold in the cracks
my heart is, liquid gold in the cracks
That wail- I'll try again
That wail was the crack, and here's the
liquid gold
Liquid gold
Break your heart
Break the heart
Tear it apart
Then it can hold liquid gold
You know what I mean
You know
You feel what I mean
It's all gold
It's golden
