  • Week 27 - aamir.art - In New York Tomorrow
    Hi Everyone!
I'm loving just writing lyrics and singing so here I go again this week.
    Here are the lyrics:
    In New York Tomorrow
    by Aamir
Let all the things that could've been pain go
I'm going so there's no stepping home
And If I end up back
It's 'cause I took another step forward
I have you to let go
    I'm gonna let you go
    I'm not like men
Who question, "Why am I like this?"
    I just live off myself
    And ask myself "Why?"
    every now and then
I'm not going to be afraid
    I'm going to be alone
    Now I'm not alone
    I freed myself from hope
If love got in the way of life
It was me trying to feel my way out
    I wasnt trying to fail
    We just need to retell
All the stories I had myself to tell
And how they all just had to melt
When I by you was held
    This love's about me
As much as it's about you, I know

  • Week 27 - prophisee - Elevator Shaft
Spent a lot of time learning to finger drum the little drum break instead of using a sample and then I didn't have time for anything else. Piano reminded me of severance.

  • Week 27 - miraclemiles - River Island Exploration Dub
The voyage was just hard enough. Blisters lightly formed. The current no match for our might. Kayaks beached, we explored deep to the center of this high river island. Soft ground covered in goose droppings. The true inhabitants then took flight. A surreal place full of textures and mystery. We interlopers know nothing.

A little river paddle and island exploration in a new place was a highlight of the week. Recorded and found some sounds Friday, spent Saturday exploring. A little tired and editing today. Enjoying the dubbing. Many new ideas swirling around, hope I can explore more in the weeks to come.

Hope you all are doing well, staying cool, or warm enough.

  • Week 27 - brian botkiller - Silver Screen Murder Scene ReDuxMix
A lot of years ago I wrote a song called "Silver Screen Murder Scene" and included it on one of my albums. I was never really happy with it, and then today, in writing this song (in an hour, btw), I randomly loaded up an old vocal sample I'd recorded for that song and went, "Alright, this'll work". This is heavily influenced (as usual) by older Underworld tracks circa "Dubnobasswithmyheadman" era. Weird sounds, weird textures, just straight techno.

  • Week 27 - uhhuh_absolutely - Rising
Hey y'all! Embarrassingly missed last week due to napping through the deadline (lol), but I still did make a song! I'll get it up on bandcamp and post a link.
This week I actually got a decently early start and put some time into polish. Pretty happy with the result. I've been learning more about mixing techniques in general and I'm hearing more details in how I can improve things. Feeling inspired!
Started this one as a sketch on my M8 and fleshed it out in Ableton. Hope y'all are enjoying summer (and that folks dealing with heat waves are toughing it out alright)!

  • Week 27 - BurnedOutSun - limbo
    Another almost raw jam recording.
I remember thinking "this feels great" when playing
I wanted to cut it ideally to 4-5 minutes, but didn't manage to do it in time, so no cuts x)
I can play "it's a post rock" card, right?
Gladly I was able to at least do a little bit of mastering on PC.
Finally finished rewiring my guitar and tomorrow I'll fix my DAW setup so I won't have any excuses anymore x)
And shoutout to @dreat and @lecroquemonsieur for drums and bass :3

  • Week 27 - MRDRCAT - Low Clouds on the Horizon
I tried to use all samples for this one, but the drone is Hypersynth, so I FAILED. Everything else is samples though, including the echoey blorpy noise (a bunch of Rumble of Ancient Times noodling) and the percussion samples from my modded Monotribe.
The glitchy middle section is supposed to have a fake weather forecast where the meteorologist's friendly voice incorporates more cosmic horror before throwing back to one of the anchors, but I ran out of time before I could record it. Such is life.
