  • Week 27 - KaZu - Every Step Counts
    Hi everyone :)
This track marks the beginning of the second half of the year.
Honestly, I never thought I’d make it this far in the Weekly Beats challenge.
Sure, I’m not happy with every track, and not every idea turns out the way I imagined. But every single week has taught me something new, and that’s what really matters.
So I’ll just keep going with the same mindset:
Every week, one beat. Every beat, a bit better.
Here’s my entry for this week :)
    Have a good one!
    Cheers
    KaZu

  • Week 27 - cistern stairs - too many missing pieces
    Week 27
    Goal at start 7/1
Focus on melody development within 4 bar segments. Focus on sensing emotion/what is being stated.
    End notes 7/2
Yeah, I ran out of time and this was the result. Here’s to the most uncool song I’ve made this year.
    Plan for next week:
Maybe try not to run out of time?

  • Week 27 - Stenny - The Altar of a Deranged Mind
Started off with the pad you hear from the start onward, then added the "meow" synth with the ascending melodic line that tickled me just right, then took the patch I used in my previous "We Were Having Such a Good Time" entry, which collects MIDI from other instruments like a bucket, which periodically "tips over" and spills the notes in a blob to an instrument, and put that on a pad and two little buzzy synths. Let that form a slightly mad and random soundscape. Once the bulk piece has faded to silence, you can hear the ghosts of the silent instruments marching on, their notes channeled through the erratic buzzes and pads. Operating on a bit of a condensed schedule this week since I won't be able to write this weekend, but this is what I've got!

  • Week 27 - waziam - Trampin Out
Going away for the weekend so had to get organised and get this in before i left.
Was leaning on familiar patterns a bit over the past few weeks so wanted to do something different, for this i drew heavily from Stepping Out by Joe Jackson and a few Supertramp songs (honestly i think i have got a little too close, to the point that i feel i may just be aping the source material, but happy to go with it). I've always loved the use of the numerous keyboards in these songs, piano, organs, wurli's, rhodes, etc. which are central to the production and sound. I particularly admire the way Joe Jackson was completely shameless using a drum machine and programed bass (never to do it again).
Honestly amazed I'm still going at this after half a year. I had intended at the start to only do a song a fortnight or month, but ended up just doing it every week. Been blown away at the quality everyone is putting up, and smashed my standards with what i was capable of. If the second half produces similar results that'll be a bunch of music i never thought i could produce.
    Enjoy you legends

  • Week 27 - It'sAlwaysBeenBears - Was wird es sein?
I've been working on this beat for about two weeks but it mostly because I wanted to add vocals and I didn't get around to it.
Now I did and lyrics aren't finished and its just one take but I feel like i have the idea now layed out. Will return to this song in a couple weeks when i finish my album more.
EDIT: somewhre along the line the bitrate got completely messed up. here is the song how it suppose to be

  • Week 27 - sodynamic - Dirty Boy
Happy second half of the year everyone! Decided to try making a "piecemeal" UKG/Dubstep drop in the style of artists like WBBL.

  • Week 27 - MrAtlantis69 - If I Claim I Love You
A song about a couple I know, recently married and plagued with adultery. Sort of a protest ballad (if they exist). Would love to have done it with a female singer as a duet but just don't have one available in the one week time frame. By far one of, if not my favourite weekly beat of the year! Enjoy!
