  • Week 26 - horatiuromantic - Blue City Life
Blue city life. When you're blue, you're in the city, and you're alive! Ft Bernard Purdie sample on drums.
I have two versions on video. Second take:
    First take:
Drums by the great Bernard Purdie from his producer drums album vol 1. Bass and piano by me, with built in instruments from Logic!
I continued the saved file from last time, and used a different drum sample but the same piano and bass sounds.
My goal was to compose a funky song that I can play with the band, potentially with me on the bass on the left hand. I think this will qualify, it's really fun to play! In truth there were a couple more takes before the "first" take, that didn't make the cut. But these are the first video takes tho!!! I didn't even set up my good piano this week, I was out and about most of the time. But now it will be the jazz festival, and I'm free until August, so it will be a month of fun and music and maybe some new projects!

  • Week 26 - dadboy - Duck
I posted about 90 minutes ago saying I thought I'd miss this week, but after some (positive) peer pressure (thanks 0x_colt wrote:) I decided to do more ambient speedtrash. I'm glad I did! This was fun and simple but feels pretty to me. Hope you like it!

  • Week 26 - prophisee - Starwest Service Announcement
Written on the plane on the way back from a wedding, I used the Lofi Siri text to speech voice again
$ say -v Zaravox "Ladies and gentlemen, this is your captain speaking. We have reached 300,000 feet. Please remove your seatbelts and all of your clothes. In the event of a reactor meltdown, proceed to the nearest exit. As a reminder, the nearest exit may be best reached by tentacle as indicated on the safety information hologram. In the event of a hull breach, please ensure the oxygen mask of the collective is secured before thinking of yourself. Due to malfunctions in the worm gear, our percieved flight time will be approximately 2 hours, or between two and seven million years at your final destination as governed by the laws of relativity. If you are traveling to earth, the surface temperature is currently 200 degrees and the solar radiation index is seven. Please sit back and enjoy your flight with starwest airlines." -o ~/Downloads/pilot4.aiff

  • Week 26 - Janky Jams - Heatwave
I can't believe the year is already half done! I'm traveling this week, so here's a janky M8 track I threw together on the plane and while trying to will the AC to work harder. Can you believe this heat? Crazy.
Anyway, tried some jungle, got sidetracked, enjoy the resulting mess!

    UPDATE: Heatwave (Redux)
I made a "Redux" version of this track for the Red Means Recording monthly challenge, mostly just shortened to remove much of the repetition. It's available on SoundCloud if you want to listen and compare: https://soundcloud.com/jankyjams/heatwave-redux

  • Week 26 - sleepside - Breaking into the Vault of Heaven
I dunno what to call this, genre-wise. It's 140 bpm and four-on-the-floor. It's vaguely chippy and vaguely trance-y and has motor-engine bass hits
I made it on my Dirtywave M8. All synths (wavsynth saw arps/lead, macrosynth kick with high redux, FM bass, wavsynth noise hats, and hypersynth trance chords)
(Catching up on last week's songs too. Should be adding new comments early this week)

  • Week 26 - Celio_Morya - Not A Circle - Lost in the Drift
    Hi everyone,
I’ve been away for quite a while —  a month and a half — working on the build-up for Waking Life festival here in portugal.
I was without internet for most of that time, and honestly, without even enough time to turn on the computer. The temperatures were constantly extremely high, around 40°C, but we kept going with a smile on our faces.
This year I had the pleasure of experiencing René Wise’s set,was one of a kind and it completely blew me away. It was incredible, Perfect, and it ended up sparking the idea to this dark and heavy Road Train track.
It’s a bit faster than what I usually make, but I’m really happy with the direction it took. I only had last night and tonight to try to get back into the weekly challenge, which I really missed.
The track is still far from perfect compared to what I normally aim for. The mix is dirty and a bit muddy, hard to control all that low end, and I couldn’t get it much further in time for this week. But I definitely want to spend more time on it, both on the mix and the arrangement specially in the last part.
For now, here’s something inspired by what I experienced at the festival.
    hope you like it :)
-Track made on Logic x 11,1,1
-All made with virtual instruments and some samples
    - Project with 47 channel tracks
-Exported at 192kbit/s took half of the energy and squeezed the track alot :( to fit the 16 mega limit :(
-with a very basic master ( still learning )
    -Bpm 138 F
Wish you all a very good and productive week !!!!

  • Week 26 - aamir.art - When I Fall Into My Dreams
    Hi Everyone!
I wanted to keep it even more simple this week and carry a song with just my voice. Here are the lyrics:
When I Fall Into My Dreams
    By Aamir
    I'm standing still
Like those stones in the shade
    I have a dancing will
    Like those flowers above them
I'm juggling me and me and me
Who all wanna talk as I fall asleep
    I'm not with those stones
    Nor those flowers above them
    I just breathe that air
Between the petals and their shadows
I'm smuggling me into my dreams
I'll leave them all behind when I fall asleep
When I took my last breath
    Then stepped into my dreams
    And kept on breathing
I saw life didn't need me gardening
Before I fell, I was thinking
How can I get these shadows and flowers and stones to dance together?
I guess they'll all find a way how when I fall into my dreams
