  • Week 25 - gify - Week 25 Jam (feat. Chad)
Had a really fun time yesterday messing around with synths all day with my good friend, Chad. He programmed the 303 line at the start, which is the one thing we saved in Bitwig, lol. It's got the Behringer CAT going through the 303 filter, plus the 303 being triggered by some notes. Ended up trying to arrange this into something today in about an hour and a half, and here's what I ended up with.
Finished and rendered this at the last second! Big fun mess. Hopefully the render is good.

  • Week 25 - squelette - Grey days
It's been extra gray and rainy over the past 2 weeks. I kind of love it like that.
I've been a bit all over the place, started a few tracks that went nowhere (yet!) , and did some recording tests with guitar and bass on garageband. I've been extremely pleased with the results so I ended up sampling some chords and bass one-hits through the m8.
This is a slightly  rushed attempt at making a track out of those sounds. The drums are my homemade samples as well.
It feels awkward and fun to have access to a band-in-a-box setup like that, I will be doing more of this for sure.  Might revisit this one later as well since it's very barebone now, but I'm really happy with the sounds

  • Week 25 - Tomatron.Jones - Hekcle
I didn't have much time on this, started day-of, inspired by 'Ekcle', a sort of glitchy twitch-pop dub-step sound. I started with a 4 bar loop with a long sustain sub-bass like they have, then discovered they had a sample pack so I made a drum kit with their samples and threw in and tweaked a bunch of random glitchy samples from them. I even did a sort of dub-step breakdown with some automating the grain size and other clip parameters I've never done before. This one got away from me a bit, but it was kinda fun, I really enjoyed the heavy sound, dub-step glitch tones. Definitely ran out of time but gonna mess with more Ekcle-like tracks.
    * Drum and synth samples from Ekcle Splice pack
    * Synth bass from Ableton bass and samples
    * Synths from Ableton Wavetable and Ekcle
    * Transit, Valhalla, Ableton stock plugins
    * Gullfoss + Izotope Elements for master
    Total time: 4 hours

  • Week 25 - TurtwigX - The Sunset Hotel
It's check-in time, do you have your martini at the ready?
A full SNES song, this started with me making a whole matrix of funky chord changes inspired by a song I made 3 years ago and using jazz part writing language to make sense of it all. With the proper panning it's not nearly as cluttered as it could be!

  • Week 25 - 0x_colt - MISSING
    Speedtrash Sunday!
Not a lot of time to work on this one, but I was pretty proud of what I accomplished in a matter of a couple of hours this morning.
Let me know what you think! Hope you enjoy :)

  • Week 25 - tarsiidea - Dawn
I've been obsessed with the album Deltron 3030 this week. So inspired by it I sampled some old vinyl I had and mangled the samples to oblivion and processed them through lofi effects. Plus I added some chopped up some breakbeat samples from Reason. The lyrics are kinda gibberish, but adding my vocals was fun to record and chop up too. It's really quick and easy working with audio and mangling it in Reason.
    Lyrics:
    The light it reflects
    On the water falling down
    Through the crevasse
Of my thoughts along the ground
    They go tumbling
    My feelings stumbling
    I'm left mumbling
    wondering why
    The sky is brightening
    My heart is lightening
    sparking across the plains
    The flashes heightening
    Dawn calls
    What will you answer for
    Dawn calls
It knows the life you tore

  • Week 25 - Ottimo - Decibel Disciples
The hypnotic, tribal-infused cadence of this track fuses deep, rhythmic percussions with evolving ambient drones to simulate a digital trance-inducing ritual.
A beauty and a beast, a sweet playfull melody and a merciless destorted bassline mingle, dance and ride to the steady groove of the shaman's drum, cheered on by clapping from the ghost in the machine.
Once again: Happy ... and Free!
