  • Week 25 - Tone Matrix - Decay & Bloom
    › notes‹ notes
    Hello there.
This week I couldn’t get the old creative brain to cooperate.
It was a lot of “awww do I hafta!?” And “I’ll do it later gosh!”
CB finally showed up Sunday morning whilst half asleep.
A drone, pads and some pianer.  **shrug**
Thanks for listening.  I look forward to checking out errrbodies music! <3

  • Week 25 - Perlin Boy - Techno 25
This is a M8 tack. I sampled drums from a friends Behringer rd-9
Just got back from playing a techno party without my earplugs unfortunately. I took my m8  and eurorack out and it went great. My m8 is taking a beating and doesn’t seem to mind. Its been mega reliable and is able to hold everything I through at it. Except the bottom rubber peace on the back finally came off this week.

  • Week 25 - evanericksonmusic - Getting Up
Well, I thought this project turned out pretty cool. Lots of experimentation with a subdued style, my first time working with my friend to play bass on the track, first time mixing in Logic, and more practice with vocaloid (most lyrics moving forward will be Japanese translations of a poem book of someone I knew online who died from my disease recently). This started off with a sample from Barrister Plong (who generously donated two dozen guitar samples), and I tried to squeeze as much variation out of it as I could.
For those of you thinking “evAn wRitEs jAzzz?!?” that piano sample at the end is a performance of a song I wrote 3 years ago. Slicing it up revealed a very fun speakeasy feel that I felt the song naturally wanted to change into. Plus, I think it gives this song a cool structure.
Both halves of this song I enjoy for different reasons. I am excited to bring it to my next mixing lesson, as I think there is a lot of room for learning in this track.

  • Week 25 - JaiClone - Behind Closed Doors
Well, this didn't quite go as planned :|
I came up with the intro piano bit at work yesterday and had a couple of ideas on how it might come together, so I started working on it this afternoon, made decent progress despite feeling pretty unenthused.
Then, I needed to attend to family, so... welp... I guess this is how it stays for now. The 'bridge' vocals were entirely meant to be a placeholder while I mixed the rest so I could circle back to it when I had a better idea, but didn't get the chance to, along with a few other bits that needed polish, had to mix on headphones again, but eh, it's a demo.
So yeah, kind've another not properly complete song, maybe? Oops... (yes, I need to not leave them til the last minute, but... it's how I roll...)

  • Week 25 - Crash Overture - A risk of string
This one was gone in Garageband, I used the autoplay for the strings, and then played along in Cminor and Cmajor on two alchemy Synths, and Taiko Drums.
I made the big decision to quit my violin lessons (I will still play on my own) and to work with my singing teacher to accompany myself on piano. On Piano I'm trying to memorize two chords a day, and then practice the very basic stuff in the intro book.  This will be my 7th or 8th attempt to learn piano. Maybe this time it will stick. Learning chords definately make it a lot more interesting.
I really like violin, but none of the teachers I have had can explain stuff to me in a way I understand, so a lot I've had to figure out on my own or ask other music friends. Eventually I wanna find a teacher online that I can work with, that will make me feel like I am progress rather than playing the same song for 6-8 months with very little improvement. I felt like I got a lot better when I was playing fiddle music with neon liminal rather than my classical lessons. So I'll go back to fiddling and playing pop songs to improve my intonation and rhythm.

  • Week 25 - Daisy - String Swing
I found a chord progression that I liked and this is what fell out of my head! A little bit cheeky, saucy, flirty, and fun.

  • Week 25 - TheIntern - Uniform
As always, another week another beat, I hope whoever listens enjoys. Man, this mix was really giving me a run for my money and still is. I could spend eternity trying to get it to sound exactly how I want it to sound, but then I wouldn't have an upload for this week, LOL. That being said for the most part I'm happy with this tune, could be better in some areas but that's music, am I right, always things to improve on. Happy Father's Day to all the dads out there, I know I wouldn't be where I'm at without mine, and I'm lucky to have him in my life. Hope you all deserve your day of dedication most of y'all deserve it.
