  • Week 23 - Vet - Flock
Found a really cool clip from a really cool instrument on instagram that looks like wind pipes but vertical stacked together then it's like super tall. Guy was playing on the street, so I took it, added chiptunes, beats to it. I like how it came out!
Traveling this week a lot. We'll see how my activity turns out.
    Stay hydrated.

  • Week 23 - TurtwigX - Monorhythm
    Everybody flow together!
This was a fun party trick. My idea was "What if the melody, chords, and bass all moved at the speed of the rhythm? So got myself a fun rhythmic pattern and starting writing. I limited myself to the NES for this one so it wouldn't get too out of hand. I don't know if that really limited me much though lol

  • Week 23 - freezedream - Mood Market
This is another piece for the upcoming Neo Geo game Overserved being created by Fullset.
It's for the Moo'd Market arena which is a supermarket, so I think it works well to have some sort of elevator jazz humming along in the background!

  • Week 23 - scottux - slow short speed trash ambient noodles
microkorg2 psdungeon preset i made, some preset from the udo super 6, and a vst i may never use again called Chrome 2000 (it has to phone home with a companion app every 60 days in order to refresh its license, which is annoying and bad for a dozen reasons not the least being that if their auth server ever goes down there goes my purchase I guess). Don't buy stuff from Cradle (cradle.app) I guess.
anyway, that plus some valhalla vintage delay and reverb, a little cxm 1978 on top, and XLN's RC-20 Retro Color doing caricature levels of tape wobbulation, and you have some speed trash.

  • Week 23 - willdasilvatunes - playing with the filters
that time of the week again... did a couple things differently this time around. spent more time on it than usual, firstly, but I also tried to be conscious about deleting as little as possible when it came to musical ideas. Something I tend to do often is get into a loop of creating and deleting and it leads me to not being able to finish things. So here we are!
I've been playing a lot of Cult of the Lamb recently and I love River Boy's use of filtering the choir. So I tried to emulate that vibe-- it's so fun to experiment with it :) anyways. hope everyone had a great week

  • Week 23 - Tweaklab - 14 New Reasons
So I made the shift from REASON 13 to REASON 14 and this whole Weeklybeat is really just dedicated to learning the new work flow. It's pretty cool! I just had fun structuring the track using the new layout and shortcuts, trying to teach myself new habits after watching the "What's new in Reason 14" video. I love how quick and easy it is to route different things to their own mix channel with their own effects now. A big chunk of the song is the ReDRUM and how I just routed things. There's nothing overly special about the track, it's more just a product of my messing around if that makes sense :)

  • Week 23 - Janky Jams - Systems To Conquer
Trying out a new approach this week, away from the big rack. I got the M8 Tracker a few weeks ago, but haven't really managed to get into it yet... so I figured, maybe I try to force the issue by messing around with my setup. And the result is quite different from my usual too, as a consequence!
So, here's one for you that's only very minimally modular: the little palette case here is only used to add a kick and delay. That means, this week's patch notes are sparse: Bohm for the good big kick, and Nautilus as a delay on some of the M8's synth voices. I multitracked the M8 into Ableton, and used it as the master clock and sequencer. Track 7 on the M8 controls Bohm. The Drop is a bit underused here - I was planning to control a bunch of parameters of M8 voices with it, and that works great, but it's not ideal to rely on that for a fixed/planned track when I could just sequence those parameters on the M8 itself... so mostly I used it to control the wet/dry of Nautilus here :D
Anyway, hope you enjoy something a little different from me this week.
    xoxo
