The 2 brothers now understand why the sudden break in communications, which lasted a full week. Apparently, an old abandoned alien outpost where one of the bros went scavaging, wasn't that abandonded. The electro magnetic pulses emitted by the R-305 alien hives that were still active on the facility, completely blocked any nearby radio frequencies. With useless Baofengs, the zibrothers knew that the only option to get together again was to rely on the ancient technique of beat communication. They took a week to create the bonding beat that ultimately guided both to a previously discovered safe zone.

› Production‹ ProductionThis one was played live with the OP1-F Digital synth through CWO and Terminal effects. Audio out over USB to the Dirtywave M8, which added chorus, delay, reverb and compression. M8 into TX-6, which added more compression and more reverb, and acted as the audio interface for recording into Logic. After a couple of takes I got something that felt pretty interesting.

Then I recorded two more layers with a plugin called Random. It's a strange instrument that makes very unique sounds. It's hard to make it do anything consistently, but it's fun to generate some samples if you need weird fluttering alien feedback sounds. For these extra layers I used the OP1-F as a midi keyboard, while at the same time messing around in the parameters of the plugin with my mouse. Of course had to add a bit of reverb on top (Fabfilter Pro-R), because ambient.

On the master bus I added more reverb (Fors Sala) and some basic EQ, compression and tape saturation and that's about it.

I started this one using only a single track on the M8, which was a super fun exercise. The result turned out to be something way more minimal than I would usually end up with.

I also spent a bit of time focusing on learning some mixing techniques. I don't think any of the techniques here were deployed particularly well and I pretty much ran out of time near the end. Still, any feedback is appreciated!

Started this idea last week, wanted to give it another week to cook. I need to get myself some more genre appropriate drum samples instead of just processing 909 sounds.

No external processing, just straight out of the M8.
