  • Week 22 - endojo - Tough Arms
    It's loose and limber,
    Lanky and loopy.
    It's mostly just some beats,
    Turned into a song.
    I hope you like it,
Could care less if you don't.
    At least you still listened,
    Don't taze me, bro.
    --------
Tried to make this one in a major key. Or at least something different. It's hard to make music with the intent of being joyful rather than the usual feeling of "make it as intense as I can." A lot of my lyrics are dark. Not sure why, maybe just because they sound cool or maybe because there's some kind of internal turmoil. I dunno, it's just music. But it can also be whatever you and I need it to be.

  • Week 22 - Colorcast - Midnight Snack
I'm actually pretty proud of this one. Maybe I should do more stuff like this.

  • Week 22 - parappayo - Wolf & Goat No. 1
I wanted to feature the Akai Rhythm Wolf a bit more. It's a challenge to work with in the mixing and mastering stage. I'm not very good at things like taming rogue frequencies and getting clarity out of the noise without clipping so... yeah, here we are. I'd like to turn this into a series, so this is "No. 1" and the title is both in acknowledgement of the greatness of the 303 as well as the name of a burrito (the "Wolf & Goat") from a local restaurant. I liked how the hi-hats turned outs. The kick and "snare" are pretty rough though.

  • Week 22 - Tom Foolery - Devotion
Description to be updated later. Had to do this in one take today, and something glitched in the recorder, so there's a skip in the intro. I hope you enjoy it warts and all though!
Inspired by a misheard Alex G lyric, and an incredible lyric from an Asha Jeffries song ("Your mouth on my mouth: devotion").
    Guitar in CGDGDD tuning.
I leave my skin outside your house
    place your mouth upon mouth
I will give my wings to you
make my blind to the truth
    I would bleed into you
    if you asked me to
    I would bleed into you
    if you asked me to
no word more sacred than your name
I will shoulder all your blame
    stare directly at the sun
to see how bright you have become
    I would bleed into you
    if you asked me to
    I would bleed into you
    if you asked me to

  • Week 22 - deeckzeven - ah geh gah
Not really speedtrash exactly, but definitely speedtrash-adjacent. The bones of this have been kicking around on my M8 for ages. So I fleshed it out some instead of cooking up something new this (busy) week.
The vocal-ish sounds are from recordings of WebSDR. And the distorted drums are a mangled sample of an Omnichord's "country" rhythm preset. Everything else is M8 synths.

  • Week 22 - sodynamic - Guarantee
Oops, forgot to submit last week. Kept thinking I'd sit down and make final tweaks one more time but then the weekend got away from me! We keep soldiering forward, back to the garage style beats this week.

  • Week 22 - TheDaeVolta - Tardigrade
I COMPLETELY ran out of time this week, since my sister is getting married (YAY!)
So here's a sketch, at best
    › lyrics‹ lyrics
    Oh I
    feel like a tardigrade
    so small
    can't even be displayed
    I know
    I have worth beyond
    what I can do
    I always come back
    and make a breakthrough
    Strong and mighty
    like a tardigrade (grade)
    I always come back
    even when I
    stray
I'm very much not happy with this week's submission (especially after how proud I am of last week's) but.. take the good with the bad!

  • Week 22 - NickLong - Embers
Another very straightforward track for this weeks weekly beats.
    Musically very simple just a 2 chord vamp from F#m7 - DM9
The idea was a late 80's / early 90's retro house track and I chose sounds to be era appropriate.
    Made with Bitwig.
Drums are the excellent V8 built in 808 drum machine from Bitwig
The pad is V Collection Casio CZ through Arturia tape sim with a lot of wonk
    Lead is a Roland D-50
Bass is a Lately Bass from Hive tweaked to be a bit more squishy and fuzzy
    303 is Phoscyon
Vocals are Synthesizer V again although Saros 2 this time which I've been very impressed with for a more soulful type of sound.
    Lyrics
We are embers in the smoke
Shine for moments then we're gone
We are bubbles in the spray
    Reflecting rainbows as we fade
