  • Week 21 - Apticx - Petals
Hey everyone, hope you had a great week. I for myself did. Started the week by having some days off and then went and visited a gaming convention during the weekend where a friend of mine had their own booth at the indie gaming area where they showcased a university game project they are working on right now.
It was great outside of me catching a ear infection which made my left ear really sensitive to loud noises and also made me not really hear low frequency stuff very well for a few days and its only started clearing out today so excuse any weirdness happening in the (reused an old fm patch project i started years ago) song this week. I kinda ignored mixing by ears and just tried adjusting levels by looking at the meters so i hope it doesent sound too weird.
At last i made it another week so that at least feels good i guess.

  • Week 21 - jemmons - Halic
I had a thing in mind with this but I don’t know what it was. I wrote the little lilting swells first and they reminded me of something… then, because I couldn’t put my finger on it, that something haunted me the rest of the week. I couldn’t remember what it was I was remembering and I couldn’t find the source anywhere after going through the entirety of my trance collection. Maybe it was here? I hope I didn’t rip anyone off, but if I did, please let me know.
I’m traveling, so this was done entirely on an M8. Most parts of the M8 are delightful. But something I have real trouble with is finding a way to automate, say, the amount of filter envelop on a 303-like patch. The envelope is great. And there’s a way to use another ENV or LFO to modulate ENV amount. And all the trigger FX to kick off when you want them in the arrangement. But in practice I spend too much time trying to get them to work, and then when I come back the next day, I’ve forgotten all of what I did, and then I miss one and some filter is opening exponentially throughout the track and…
I guess to sum up, I like where this ended up. But I wish there was more movement and that it was more deliberate. And I might have stolen the whole thing from somewhere.

  • Week 21 - Leo - Overcaff'd
    All M8.
This one's a bit of a bummer. I had the intro for week 20 already, but then stuff came up and I made something else I liked. Decided to revisit the intro I had made, but I  couldn't seem to come up with a coherent idea that would make sense with what I had already. So I just decided to throw stuff at the wall to get it out of my system. On to the next week!

  • Week 21 - uhhuh_absolutely - Laundry Break
I have a lot of laundry to do, hence the title.
Another track on the M8 using some synth samples I recorded a while back. Short one this time, struggled a bit getting the sax to sit in the mix after rendering the whole mix on the M8. Want to use the built in limiter and OTT and didn't feel like rendering out individual stems, so I guess that's what I get!
Weird time right now, mix of a sense of urgency to change or restructure my life and also feel very stuck in the current structures I've built. I've never been one to take many risks.
Hope everyone's doing well out there! Thankful to be enjoying some nice sunny weather.

  • Week 21 - Nyarlos - Rocking Out
Just a quick hard rock/generi-metal tune trying out a new amp I got, the Randall MTS120, an interesting design that Egnater and Randall amps pioneered, with changeable preamps so you could just slot new sounds into your head. Failed pretty badly, but a few years later Synergy amps perfected and now do quite well with. Often the way lol

  • Week 21 - tarv - dog cat trash rat
i've reached the point in my wb journey where i must drop the self imposed 'themes' idea.
it was good for trying new things, sticking to an idea, and milking it for all its worth, but it's starting to be stifling creatively.
going forward, it'll just be whatever comes out.
    and i'm okay with that.

  • Week 21 - digtacos - Passion's Storm
Haven't done anything in a while with vocals so downloaded some from Splice and had at it. This was an attempt at switching up energy and motion. Enjoy.

  • Week 21 - scottux - Leviathan I
I was playing with the Vhikk X and made a lovely drone to go with the PSDungeon patch on my microKORG2 and felt like I knew I had something special building. This song is complete, though I don't think it's done if you know what I mean? I imagine between now and release on bandcamp etc it'll get more touches, but I think I have a good new entry for my Leviathan series started with Leviathan IV (hell yeah out of order let's go)
