  • Week 21 - BTS - Crescent Game Engine
I decided to go on a detour this week, and play around with some more danceable tracks.
I wanted to build up some atmospheric Drum & Bass and play with some parts that way.
I found a couple of drum loops, along with a set of Rhode piano samples and then started to build up the pads, drums and eventually, the bass.
I struggled a bit on the arrangement, so this ended up being a bit shorter than the stuff I've done so far this year.
After arranging, I EQ'd, mixed and added final effects before mastering.

  • Week 21 - PeterM - ALONE
This is a one take ambient session with my tempera and a piano. Recorded into M8 and some simple eq and effects afterwards. This was my first attempt at doing this and it was a pretty fun way to try to make music.

  • Week 21 - sugar.export - remember
I have been watching this YouTube show called solid air, where this person invites famous musicians and artists into his house and they just listen to records together and do a little interview. It’s been really affirming to hear these peoples music tastes and creative processes and remembering these specific artists that I really love that he has interviewed and hearing their processes helped me be inspired to make something a little different this week.
I sort of took from multiple people and did my own spin but I started out with a pad like piano and made some chords all live and in one take with a refrain and an octave drop before returning again to the main melody.
I verbed the hell out of it and filtered it with some resonance to highlight certain parts of the middle register.
Then I played around with a glockenspiel preset to highlight the chords.
    Added flute trills.
    Added pads to the refrain.
And finally added shaker, bass, and percussion towards the end.
the final thing I added was a ride in this weird dotted time because I really wanted the groove of this track to feel different but still consistent and along the lines of it’s sweet kinda nourishing vibe.
All and all it’s been a good experience to remember and play with what making music means to me and all the different ways to approach it.
    Hope you’re having a great week <3

  • Week 21 - Dank Receptor - DJ Fromm Massif
Another long form FMS jam this week, more polymetric IDM vibes. Still a ton of fun!
Recorded live to stereo, edited down to a few minutes, slightly mastered in Ableton.
    Thanks for listening, take care!

  • Week 21 - TurtwigX - Ideation at a Bus Stop
"You stop and think to yourself... is this really all there could ever be?"
I semi-not-so-randomly picked 4 different chords and then imagined a scenario where they could all blend together. This is the result!
