  • Week 20 - formalprocess - Purpl
Leaning into the pop elements with this one.
The sound reminded me of the purple 80s themes.  Bounce along with this one.

  • Week 20 - Xjs - Butter
This week, a song about butter. B major, of course.
    › Lyrics‹ Lyrics
Can you imagine a life without grease
Give your heart a stress release
Fry the world in a double pan
Like in England, beans, eggs & ham
Listen to the words I utter
This is a song about butter
Listen to the words I utter
This is a song about butter
Beat the milk until it gives
A block of grease that no longer lives
But you know it makes everything better
So I'm writing her a love letter
Listen to the words I utter
This is a song about butter
Listen to the words I utter
This is a song about butter

  • Week 20 - Super_Pig - The Infinite
Another ambient track like Hollow Castle, with maybe a little less going on. Originally I had scrapped this idea and wanted to try something with more going on, not because I didn't think it sounded good, but because the process felt too easy. With ambience songs like this, it feels like just finding a really cool Pad and then just playing chords, and the release / reverb work themselves out.
Maybe it's just myself and the arbitrary standards I set myself to, regardless, here it is.

  • Week 20 - squelette - Roadtrip
Made on the fly before leaving on a little adventure with an old friend of mine! All VSTs except for a little wild guitar appearance/improv, having fun with an expression pedal messing up the delay time. The bass is a little braindead but I really wanted to keep it simple and repetitive as a backbone for the dragging organ/synth

  • Week 20 - willdasilvatunes - a slight bubblegum flavor!
I wanted to go a little more cutesy with this one! I don't have very much experience writing this type of music so I wasn't sure how to take it further than what you see here. Would love to experiment with making more drops in the future and going bigger with them. Any advice/feedback is appreciated!! :D

  • Week 20 - prophisee - All there is
Ableton crashed in a way that caused it to crash again on restore, so this track was completely lost an hour before the Sunday deadline. Recreated it from scratch and got a late link, thx mods!
    › lyrics‹ lyricsVerse
Sunk our teeth in the grain, clear cut the galaxy
Into a million grains of sand to make the plan concrete
Born to terraform and supply the demand
Drain the river till it withers for a one night stand
Needy for graffiti when the walls look bleak
The scenery’s a fixture steel twig in the wreath
Warm inside the storm they flew a plane into sea
While were busy in the city its getting harder to breathe
    Pre-Chorus
    Have you found it yet
    What you’re looking for
    This is all there is
    It’s all yours
    Chorus
The rain falls, water rises deep
Let it wash all over me
Let it run down to the ocean
Pulled off the cliff by gravity
My goal is to write better lyrics this year so I've been following the process and frameworks from Writing Better Lyrics by Pat Pattison.
› idea and narrative‹ idea and narrativeThis week's topic was trees. Was struggling with ideation. Wanted to go for a chorus that was almost false bittersweet and bittersweet, happy where it shouldn't be. I was inspired by Dancing in the Moonlight and if you listen closely I ripped off the chours chords. Turns out the utopia presented by that song was actually fake in the mind of the author! I felt that vibe but only after making this learned the history.
› object writing‹ object writingBeeping and honking. Room to walk, but too many people to keep track of which affords a kind of anonymity. Big patches of shadows and sun from the towering buildings. A sense of smallness among them, having to crane your neck to look above. Various stretches of newness, construction in progress, and dilapidation. A smell of street food, trash, wet asphalt, A cool breeze funnels around. The snappy response of your shoe against a concrete sidewalk. Crosswalks beeping. Cars passing not too quickly. A general sense of bustle. Shades of gray, black, blue reflections glinting on glass. A rainbow of spattered colors and plumage on cars, people, and signs. Most things look like they’d be cold if you touched them unless they are sitting in a rare patch of glaring sun. A sense of vastness yet confinement. Despite all the moment everything feels oddly still against the vast scale of the surroundings.

  • Week 19 - mukti - RELEASE
This was another busy and rushed week. Just getting this in a few sec before the deadline! Very rushed and rough, not exactly my best track, but any feedback is appreciated.
