Just a little tune to help reset the normal.

a bit of a different one this week.

I was determined to get my head around my sp404 so this week has been entirely tracked and processed in there.  acoustic guitars were done with an sm57 rested on my desk.

I had fun resampling everything and slamming it with the effects

the two synths were from vhs synth and ableton note on my phone - sent into the 404 via usb.

I did resort to sequencing in ableton - I'll try the 404 sequencer next week.  or maybe I'll sequence it from koala not sure.

not 100% happy with the workflow for recording vocals into the 404, was rather laborious waiting for samples to restart etc - though I think the looper may be the answer to that.

some (a fair few) pitchy vocals somewhere but ::shrugs::

guitar is dadead

Featuring @horatiuromantic, my human avatar! This is my first song on electric guitar! Composed this morning, then played at the open mic CPH Listening Room (on piano - video down below!), then recorded at home - this one is take 4. It's not perfect, but what is? ENJOY!

› Lyrics‹ Lyrics

[v1]

A dog knows

when it's wet outside and rain

and that feeling once again

try to hide it but it shows

[v2]

A dog knows

when it's broken and in pain

your heart, can't hide what it's sayin'

when you feel it in your bones

[c1]

You can lie   to yourself

And pretend

    that everything's alright

You can tell   all your friends

That you're over it

    and smiiiiiiiiiiiile

[v3]

but a dog knows

when you don't mean what you say

to a dog it's clear as day

    your smell gives it away

A dog knows

it's all about those pheromones

(Solo)

[c2]

You can lie   to yourself

And pretend

    that everything's alright

You can tell   all your friends

That you're over it

    and smiiiiiiiiiiiile

[v6]

a dog knows

what is really on your mind

if you follow it you'll find

how to heal your heart and soul

[c2]

You can lie   to yourself

And pretend

    that everything's alright

You can tell   all your friends

That you're over it

    and smiiiiiiiiiiiile

[final verse]

god knows

what is really on your mind

if you follow it you'll find

A DOG NOSE

This week I felt completely unmotivated and uninspired to create music! :/

I put this together in 1-2 hours on Sunday evening. I needed to keep it short and sweet.

I tried to mimic the layering of piano reminiscent of what Steve Reich has done in the past. As Steve Jobs once said (quoting Pablo Picasso), "Good artists copy; great artists steal". I attempted to take the layering, repeating piano concept and make it my own.

The final piece reminds me a little of Outerstate by Kessoncoda, which you should absolutely listen to.

I think it could work as part of a soundtrack behind some suitable visuals.

Hope you enjoy!

pretty hynotic atmospherics. all in reaktor, single performance, raw. need to end it swallowed in reverb.
