Hello and welcome, friends! This past week was an interesting one, at least musically speaking. I ended up having three music lessons in one single week! On Monday I picked up banjo lessons again, now with a new instructor, after having stayed away for about a month and I'm having quite a bit of fun! I also had my regular piano lesson and a make up session to compensate for last week where I didn't have any. So quite a lot of musical stuff going on! At least that's what I'm telling myself so that I don't feel that guilty for being a bad student and not having yet taken the banjo out of its case since the Monday lesson, hahahaha...

This week I ended up cheating a bit again. I didn't have much music composition time this week even though it was a very musical week overall. Then, on Sunday afternoon, I tried just sitting down with the M8 and noodling around with it for a few hours, trying to come up with something from scratch. But for some reason, I was having a really really hard time finding anything inspiring. I would start a blank project, noodle around a bit, feel like I hit a bit of a dead end, then start over with a blank canvas. I probably did this whole thing about six or seven times. So as I saw the deadline approaching, I dug into my archives and found this piece that was super funky and mostly ready. I did a few really minor tweaks, like adding a couple of small variants of one of the bass lines and adding chorus to it to make it more audible, and then called it a day.

Hopefully this coming week I'll be able to spend a little more time coming up with stuff throughout the week instead of trying to come up with a whole track on the spot just hours before the deadline.

Wishing everyone a great week and a happy Mothers' day to those who celebrate!!!

Peace, y'all!

Hi gang!

A long weekend finally comes to an end.

I had a friend over for superbooth. It was really nice to spend some time outside and just relax for a few days, but after he left at around 8pm i realised, i still got nothing for this weeks submission.

So in the spirit of superbooth week i got my korg emx out and tried to churn out a jam as quick as possible, since i was already sleepy when i started. (So just like every week :D)

I wanted to save this pattern as Partytime in the emx but there is only space for 8 characters. So now it's about a guy called Tim who likes to party. Ha...

Thanks for stopping by <3

Another M8 ambient song - this one uses a custom tuning that provides a lot of perfect triad tones (or as perfect as M8 scales can get).

Other than that I really wanted a couple different distinct sections and a more sparse song... not many ideas materialized beyond that but I'm happy with how it turned out.

This week I tried to learn some basic things about compression, reverb, and sidechaining, and put them into a song. Still some work to do but it's a start!

I got the name Lumon from the show Severance; it kind of gave me a similar scifi vibe.

This started as a solo guitar thing, loose and groovy. It turned into something else in logic, but I had fun with it. Was going for a "lost in the highlands" vibe.
