Aside from getting more comfortable overall with the m8, I experimented with resampling (the chords), new fx commands, timestretching etc.

I'm sure someone has a smart workflow from creating chords through resampling 3+ tracks but that someone isn't me. It's fast to just plop in some triads but moving back and forth between three different lanes as you're testing a few things for both notes and rhythm over 4+ bars was a bit of a pain. Great workaround for getting some more variation in instrumentation etc for chords on the m8 though.

This week I exported with a quick master chain in Ableton though and re-added the vocal as a separate track (not the choppy one, the other one).

Didn't really know where to take it.

I'm really struggling listening to the result so I spent more time trying a different take on sound design and learning more. It's different but not sure if it's any better. It offends my ears less: Samply Version

Had to travel to the Netherlands for work this week and got a cold 🤧

I had started a sketch early in the week but couldn't finish it, so I had to do it on the plane...

Remembered I had episodes of Chase the Beats saved to my phone so... I sampled SQF's voice during our episode, thinking he would be ok with it ;)

Time Flies! I'm still haunted by time, the duality of enjoying one self, and not knowing what to do in the fleeting moment of good. Somehow for some reason life escapes me like sand, the good moments pass, the painful ones pass too. I am left with the residual waves like impressions of sand. Of which I will return to the waters and air. I hope to become the air that lifts someone's spirits and flies into space. Swirling about.

Not sure if it's musical but it's different to what I usually do. I noodled out a short sequence in Fugue Machine and tweaked it until it wasn't too awful, then dumped each playhead into the M8 via midi, using temp voices. After that it was a lot of patch-swapping & tweaking, arrangement, adding breaks and a bridge, and generally trying not to let it get too monotonous. This is the first time I've used all 16 phrases in a chain!

I really don't know what to make of this one. I suppose it's a sketch, but you can tell I'm using creative muscles I don't have practise with.

I started this week's track off with a pair of percussion samples, then building a custom Kong kit with other samples to build out a rhythm.

After that, I built out chords for a baseline, pads and a pair of motifs.

Once I had all the elements I wanted, I built out the arrangement of the track, EQing and mixing as well as adding automations as I went along.

Once I set the track, I added mastering effects and exported.
