This one is a homage to a Mixmag compilation by John B called Trance n' Bass. It was THE first real drum and bass mixtape I listened on repeat with my CD Walkman back in 2001/2002. Hoovers, reese bass, fast paced, trance basslines, ethereal vocals, you name it.

i would have liked to have some extra time to find some tasty vocals/hooks on top of this, but deadline was closing, so it went this way. Maybe I do a vocal edit some day.

Given how my week ended up, this is bit more extended proof of concept, but I'm pretty happy with it.

It's my first time with microtones (24 seems easiest for beginners), I'm really happy that I made it sound "not crunchy".

I started with simple melody and immediately got "alternative universe tribe" vibe with some uncanny flavour, so decided to lean into that.

Might revisit the idea next week tbh, I really like the direction

Also, probably will stay with 7/4 for a few weeks, to explore it further.

This was an impossible week to make music, but just before easter dinner :) I have uploaded something which I want to finetune coming week with better arrangement, especially for the breakdown where there are no drums to have it transition better from nothing to beats. Also after the washy fft bit at the end I want to come back with a drum section. Try out more variations with the drums as they are pretty straight forward, though dense.

i like bass. i wanted something a bit more slow.

it's been weird recently. i haven't been able to click with a lot of my modules and I'm not sure why.

practice though. it will improve.
