  • Week 19 - spOOked - mama boogie
Happy mothers day didn't have really any time this week. Just did a little blues boogie

  • Week 19 - Crash Overture - Taking out the garbage
On vacation, had some romantic ideas about what to sing but well I sang about what was outside my window. So a quick improvised song.  Also being quiet again because trying to not to disturb my cousin and got awkward when someone walked into courtyard while I was singing out the window. But it’s done and silly.
One take on my iPhone. No edits.

  • Week 19 - Fàtima - Glacier
Glaciers are massive, slow-moving bodies of dense ice formed over centuries from compressed snowfall on land, acting as crucial indicators of climate change. They exist worldwide, with major concentrations in polar regions and mountain ranges, and are currently retreating rapidly, with some (like in Alaska) melting at their fastest rate in four centuries

  • Week 19 - kydlo - The green space
Mixing needs work and maybe a little repetitive but I enjoyed making it so huzzah! On mobile again while walking slowly with the dog through the woods.

Going for something tense and energetic. Maybe a sense of desperation.

  • Week 19 - cmcavoy - Distant Planet
Another week where my aspirational hardware recording ends up as an arrangement in Ableton. I'm going to keep at it, but when the Saturday / Sunday "get it done" pressure hits I have hard time not going back to Live to get it out the door. Weeklybeats has taught me a lot about workflow and going deep with tools rather than constantly switching things up. When output is the goal, tweaking your setup isn't as attractive. Going to keep after it though.

  • Week 19 - Cakes - Deck Work
This "song" is a hat tip to the guys who resurfaced my deck last month.
The beats and synths came out of the MPC and went into Logic for EQing and sequencing. I abandoned an MPC bassline and pivoted to a gforce OB-EZ VST bass inside Logic. I need more experience to get some better clarity out of it. My go to staging has been to throw UADx 176 compressor with a "Bass Grit" preset onto my bass then Pro Q-4 soft DI Bass 02 preset with a sidechain to the kick. Fuck knows if I'm doing it right. I hope it sounds OK.
It needs more sequencing work, and maybe some more accent effects in places, but I'm please with the individual elements the more I listen to it.

  • Week 19 - orbit_normal - Ribbed
Having fun with some multi phrase long LFOs on the cutoff with resonance cranked all the way up. Wasn't feeling making something super melodic this week. I just wanted to play around with some weird sounds.

  • Week 19 - evanericksonmusic - Havlamak
Quite happy with this one. Larger emphasis on mixing, cutting bass, and dynamic range (not always loud, not always active). Got to use one of my teacher’s orchestral pieces I like. Hint for the title: he’s Turkish. “In America, this song would be about a sweet little puppy. In Turkey, it’d be a dog getting shot in the street.”
    Havlamak!
