  • Week 19 - eleventhstage - What Burns Amongst Our Tidings
I was super stuck this week, so I decided to dip into the WIP folder on the M8, found a little thing that was interesting then I went into a fever dream and wrote the rest when I had some time. Best work can be done when on double time at work, a truism from the past years that has served me weirdly well.
    Enjoy

  • Week 19 - Tone Matrix - Blue Jacaranda
    › notes‹ notes
Welp I thought I broke my record last week with a 27hr afib episode.
But Afib said “hold my left ventricle” and proceeded to last for 51hr. Weeee!
Thankfully again this time it wasn’t a drum n bass heart rate and I was able to push through even though it was jazzfest inside da chest.
Music making took a backseat on those days.  I squished out this quasi-organized-noodle Saturday.
The doc wants me to continue this current dose in hopes it will finally kick in. In the mean time let’s keep going!!! \m/
Thanks for stopping by and listening.
Happy Mother’s Day to you and your family!  <3

  • Week 19 - Daisy - End Of All The Light You Know
"When you come to the end of all the light you know, and it's time to step into the darkness of the unknown, faith is knowing that one of two things shall happen: either you will be given something solid to stand on or you will be taught to fly."
-Edward Teller  was a Hungarian-American theoretical physicist.
I have always loved this quote. To me it is the meaning of hope. All of life (I speak for myself) is made of big and little steps often into an unknown darkness.
This piece begins with a low humming note played by a Sub-contra Alto flute (thanks Musescore) with punctuation by (of all things) a Pardessus de viole.  I chose this because I have always wanted to play one.  It is a viol(fretted of course) played upright on your knee, mostly by ladies. Very popular long ago in France. I include a violin in the upper octaves mostly to a provide nuance. The 5th measure brings in a Post Horn. This is the "something solid to stand on." All instruments join into building this platform.  Then, just in case the solid something fails to appear, you grow wings and are taught how to fly. Long notes, accented as if the beating of wings. The tempo increases steadily as you try your wings, soaring around, playing with the winds. All instruments join in triumphantly as you gain your inevitable proficiency.  Then a long decrescendo down to pianississimo(ppp)as you and your wings simply fly away.

  • Week 19 - noggin - Midnight Moon (instrumental demo)
I have a gig coming up where I am playing with a bunch of rock bands, so I whipped this up as a demo for the bassist to learn.
Using a big ass baritone guitar through a signal chain I have very little experience with.
    That's what I got.
