  • Week 17 - waziam - Aspirin
I had a song that i really wanted to make work but was just killing me this week. Really needed sleep so bailed out and knocked this up in little over an hour.
Captures the vibe (not sure it's a good one) it'll do the job.

  • Week 17 - Coldsushi - Room
Just going with the flow with this one, I've been back to my hometown for few days last week and now I'm just wrapping my head around life again, thinking about the future, the present and the past.
I exported stems from the m8 and mixed a bit in ableton for the first time! Is always nice to have a bit more control :)
I should be back and be more active here in the coming days, I have to catch up with so many tracks to listen from previous weeks too, I'll do my best to listen to as many as I can <3
Thank you for passing by <3

  • Week 17 - Cakes - Jody's Crush
A hip-hop export out of my MPC at the start of the week had some issues so I reverted to my d&b comfort food.
    Lenzman NQ drums (Loopmasters)
    Total Science bongo fill (Loopmasters)
Bass patch from gforce Axxess (again)
Arp, lead & strings from Analog Lab
Some random audio samples for FX
I think I can add a few more elements and some drum variation to draw this out longer and mold it into something worth paying for. It's very close to there. I'm very pleased with the bones. I'm particularly pleased that I fat fingered a lead that I am 100% happy with.
I guess this is liquid d&b? The atmospheric d&b police will definitely tell me so.
I hope you enjoy. Let me know what I can do to make this better.

  • Week 17 - JaiClone - Rise & Fall
The intro is something a came up with yesterday while trying to get started with a song, but a lack of motivation didn't really take it anywhere. I started trying some drone vocal ideas to differ from the main melody so they weren't competing, and it strangely reminded me of another idea I had from some time ago, so I attempted to merge them.
Unlike last week, thankfully these two ideas were more compatible, so I wrote some lyrics and a structure of sorts and here we are.
It is another experiment in breaking away from my typical pop writing, so I'm not sure it entirely works, but least I tried new things.
The drone vocal kinda ended up too boring, but I didn't have time to rewrite and re-record, so I tinkered with some effects to make it slightly less boring. In hindsight I probably should have transposed up a little.
I'm annoyed I couldn't find something a bit more interesting to do with the beats, because the loop is literally the placeholder I started with, but the rest of the song took the time I had available. Some bits to work on.

  • Week 17 - Daisy - Nicht Zu Viel Nachdenken
The title means: Don't over think it. A message to myself.
I started out in E-Major--a favorite key- with 3 violin parts swanning about. There are some really quiet parts-- some jokes told with pizzicato (plucking the string, instead of bowing it.) The high F# is also a joke. Then I dropped the D# and attempted a modulation into A-major with various dynamic changes.  The whole thing ends "up." Which means I never made it back to E-Major, jumping completely into the waters of A-Major--so there.

  • Week 17 - FardyCakes - Stairs
This week I had to go without several of the instruments I normally use in my arrangements. It's good news though because I'm moving, and my new place will have ample space for a studio that isn't my bedroom!
Anyway, this only features the DirtyWave m8. (Guitar Gang, I have failed ye)
Went for something more eerie and ethereal, but it does make a move here and there.
Might have to be m8ing for the next week or two as I move and configure the studio space.  Hopefully it won't take too long.
    Thanks for listening!

  • Week 17 - Bearcage - Strange Place
Lost me mojo a bit lately & I reckon it shows.
Still, wanted to finish & not give up half way thru.
I don't hate it, but don't love it either...
Probably obvious, but loving acid squelches atm... This is a new T-8 that I've just bought, after selling my first one a while back 🤦🏻
3 separate basslines recorded into the M8 and arranged with added hyper synth
As well as the t-8 drums, I saw a video on YouTube about an Easter egg on Stylophone Beat, where there's an amen loop on it... So I recorded that too, & chopped & randomised it on the M8 for good measure.
Anyway, hope you all don't hate it
