  • Week 15 - reeko - many hands (for tazu)
all dogs go to heaven, and they don't let them take their anxiety with them. rest in peace tazu, you were a good boy. I'm glad I could have been there to lay a hand on your paw while you drifted off to the great farm in the sky.

  • Week 15 - brian botkiller - Altered States
Nu-breaks this week. Kinda rushed... life's been nutty. But I felt like doing something that calls back to the old school of a genre I love.

  • Week 15 - Vet - TOM LifE
Did a challenge with friends I'm hanging out with to Spin the Wheel Bishu style.
    I think the themes were
    chinese polka
    samba
    anime protag - lofi nujabes
    bagpipe house
I rolled Chinese Polka and used the drums first then the scale with different beats, then did varying dubstep drum fills or other breaks. Hope you enjoyed, bit of a rollercoaster this week! It's a fun listen!

  • Week 15 - electronic_tiger - Cityscape | Atmospheric Techno to play WipeOut to
I didn't feel much like making music this week. Nothing really wrong, just wasn't in the right headspace for it. So on Sunday evening I finally started this techno track. Continuing with the WipeOut game soundtrack vibe. Not sure how well I succeeded on that front with this one. I  wish I started on this one sooner. It definitely could use some more refinement. And it certainly could use a bit less reverb. But such is the way of things with weeklybeats...the deadline keeps popping up like clockwork.

  • Week 15 - Tomatron.Jones - Vox Prima (ft. Erika Gersten)
I've been meaning to use Weekly Beats as an excuse to do more voice practice and recording. This is the first iteration, having recorded some choir-like vocal lines with my voice teacher Erika Gersten. Basically it's a bunch of vocal layers and harmonies, then added some synth arp and grimy synth bass on top. The synth bass actually has a vocal sample in it for extra crunch. The beat is basically a manipulated and layered beat from Splice, layered with another kit using drum samples from The Midnight sample pack. Tons of automation throughout, from synth filters and wavetable types to master bus FX. Kinda wish I had more time, I don't love the drums, and maybe I should have made something a bit housier or EDM-y. Anyway, more VOX weekly beats coming up!
    * Voices recorded via Shure SM-58 through Focusrite 4i4
    * Synth with Ableton Wavetable and Bass instruments
    * Drum and percussion samples from Splice
    Total Time: 5 hours

  • Week 15 - Xjs - In the Lightest Night
I don't know what happened, but this one got long. Some nice sounds in there, a mix between mediterranean and industrial I guess?
F mixolydian, decided by dice. Some impromptu lyrics based on the games we played in game night.
    › Lyrics‹ Lyrics
    In the lightest night
    adrift…
    Around the moon, and back…
Behind a dream, and in between…
    In the lightest night,
    adrift…
