  • Week 15 - squelette - poussette
Met  my good friends' newborn for the first time this  week (a 8  weeks old!). She pretty much napped through the  whole  brunch and made a few mesmerizing expressions before passing out again.
You try and imagine  what they see at that age.. no sense of depth,  maybe  some early sights of colors.. Brain  not  formed enough to comprehend  or remember any of it, yet spongy  enough to be shaped  by  every waking moment.
Wanted to try to convey something that this week. Call it a Rugrats type beat™
Or maybe it's just an excuse to throw something very simple together :)

  • Week 15 - Kedbreak136 - Electric Lifeforms
More texture explorations this week, playing with MassiveX, some NI libraries like Arkhis, good old Poizone and Kepler Exo from FL Studio. I added some spice in the form of static electric samples, and here you go. The unruly synth towards the end is Speedbike Escape in Flex - I just love this synth that sounds like a screaming electric mustang horse. If that makes sense. And this time I did check that I did not truncate the end.
I have been super busy with my new work and I have not had enough time to listen to as many tracks I wish I did. I hope this gets better in the coming weeks.

  • Week 15 - Dyrt Dyzyrt - This Soul
Whew! I don't know how y'all are putting out songs every week! I feel like I had to rush this one a bit but that's ok I suppose. I've been fortunate enough to be super busy lately and it's keeping my mind off of all the horrors... But it's also making it difficult to find time to finish a song. *le sigh*
I'm not a religious person, but I sometimes need to imagine that there is an afterlife if only so that those who committed atrocities in this life will face justice in the next. A hell for billionaires and their ilk, if you will.
Anyway, that's sort of what inspired this song.
Hope everyone is hanging in there!
    › lyrics‹ lyricsI've never seen such a sight before
Rusted out and broken on the floor
There's no room for redemption here
    A spirit ruined
Now I watch people all throughout their lives
    I've got a name you prob’ly recognize
I carry souls through the afterlife
    When spirits loosen
    What do I do
    What do I do
What do I do with this soul
    This soul
I know you think you had it pretty good
You spent your life taking all that you could
You're rich and white, you thought you had the right
    To all you wanted
    Injecting prejudice, you never learn
Feasting on wealth you never really earned
Relishing the suffering of “lesser men”
    With all you wanted
You've always thought yourself above the mortal coil
But now it's my turn to sort you out…
    What do I do
    What do I do
What do I do with this soul
There's a place in hell for you

  • Week 15 - drj - Arid Life
All my weekly beats so far have been spooky tunes. I guess that's what comes naturally to me.
This week, I'm gonna see what happens if I turn down the edgelord a little and turn up lighter lofi vibes.
    Hope you enjoy!

  • Week 15 - Lizenn - Thieve's Din
A bit of a creative burnout this week, so I finished something I started last week but was going to throw (YES I CHEATED BOUUUUH :DD). It was supposed to be somewhat of a fighting theme but it ended up being kinda something else ? Idk really. But in this house, every week we do things ! (And yeah maybe the "Fifteen" is a bit too hidden in the title, I tried things......)
Hope you had a great week ! Wish you all the love possible and lots of music !

  • Week 15 - .exe - Forgotten Song
Here's some sounds you might remember. M8. Headphones recommended.
Let me know if this sounds as hypnotic as it does listening to it on repeat for hours while working on it.
Another Houdini render for the track art this week. It's getting somewhere.

  • Week 15 - evanericksonmusic - The Club in My Pillow
I think this is my favorite song I have written. It was about a month-long process. I took a short hiatus from using the M8 because I was getting pretty burnt out. But, I really liked how the last vocaloid fusion song came out and wanted to go a bit further with the process. During my break, I hand wrote about 4 minutes of 4 part vocal music, with words from a poem by another person with ME/CFS used as the lyrics that drove the motifs of the song.
All of that I rendered into SynthV, and then I exported about 45 samples to get funky with on the M8.
One barrier I have been experiencing in my music on the M8 has been not getting too creative with the commands or tables. There was a voice in my head that was telling me to put in some extra brainpower and brute force whatever crazy combinations I could get out of the M8. Other than some vocal processing to make the tracks pop a bit more, this is like 90% the power of the M8.
I have been really pissed off this past month by how my body is making me feel. Meds not being as effective, my insane head pressure is becoming daily again, my heart hurts, and I see things in double like 40% of the time. At literally every turn in the day there is some agonizing combination of bullshit I have to put up with. I barely have the capacity to be making music, but when I do it all I want to do is have the most fun I can. This track is filled with so many handcrafted sounds and I just love it. I wrote it for me. And I think it is a top tier Evan Erickson Music song. Even though I get sad that I cannot explore new interests, like the claymation hobby I have been getting into, without extreme pushback from my body, it seems like the one gift this illness has brought me is the ability to truly connect with music. All of my classical roots, lessons, and practice summed up to letting me tweak out crazy beats that keep me from going insane in my goddamn isolation sentence from the Devil.
I hope you fuck with it. I think this track is special. I did turn it down 2db from where it was just to compromise with your ears. Sooooooo... it's as quiet as I'll let it be. For better or worse.
