I read that women have a 40% higher risk of depression in midlife and I got to work on this episode right away :)! This is my naturopathic take on how to feel best, and support healthy mood through midlife. I also wanted to take this opportunity to explain the mechanisms at work (hormone-wise) that underlie mood change through perimenopause.
And I also want to thank YOU all for listening and being part of this community. I took a little break to focus on research studies and came back to see the podcast is doing well with lots more downloads. I'm so grateful. Thanking you...

Is there a deeper message in midlife for women?
In this honest conversation, I sit down with medicine woman CarmenMorales to explore the initiatory aspects of midlife and what are the MOSTimportant opportunities for women in this life stage.
Together we explore:
• Why midlife is an invitation to revise your life
• Reclaiming your “queendom” beyond patriarchal pressure
• Moving from over-busyness and constant efforting into essence
• Rethinking achievement and drive
• How to hold ourselves as we meet the challenges of midlife
• Listening to your body, your cycles and your internal nature
• Collaborating with the natural world to restore yourself – an exercise todevelop this innate intelligence
If you’re navigating perimenopause, menopause or simply feeling thecall to step out of exhaustion and into sovereignty — this episode will feellike a remembering.

Dear listener, I’m now well into the first term of my research studies with Torrens University, and I wanted to share some info with you. I’m looking at the impact of endocrine disruptor chemicals (EDCs) on womens hormones through perimenopause and menopause. Listen to this episode for a concise overview of how these chemicals influence four key aspects (or ‘phenotypes’) of the menopausal transition.
1. The impact on menstrual cycle regularity and bleeding
2. The influence on the age we achieve menopause at
3. The influence on fertility in our 40s
4. The influence on ovarian function

In this episode I’m diving into the what, why and how of Histamine Intolerance, an emerging condition in women particularly, that can be aggravated when our hormones are fluctuating. With the inflammatory nature of histamine intolerance, it can be hard to differentiate this condition from perimenopause, autoimmune disease, allergies and other chronic inflammatory conditions. I go over the typical symptoms you’d expect to experience, and then we dive into what’s called the ‘metabolism’ of histamine, meaning, how it get broken down and removed.
Sometimes that doesn’t happen so we end up with too much in our bodies! Also I share recent research on high histamine foods and there’s one major culprit. Can you guess what it is?
Enjoy!
