Insulin resistance is a condition where the body's cells become less
sensitive to insulin, a hormone that regulates blood sugar. According to the
American Diabetes Association, about 88 million American adults have insulin
resistance, with risk factors including a family history of diabetes, obesity,
physical inactivity, PCOS, and certain other medical conditions.
