This is the last in the If Only series. Joseph faced many setbacks in life. Like with the grief inflicted upon his father, Joseph these were primarily caused by the actions of others. Faced with betrayal, separation from his family, a woman's scorn, and being forgotten, Joseph could have just given up. But we see quite a different reaction. How he handled the baggage he was forced to carry was much different from how his father reacted. To help us learn how to appropriately handle our baggage and, more importantly, how we allow God to use our baggage, we looked at Genesis 39:2, 21; 45:4-8 and Romans 8:28-30.

Some of the baggage we accumulate in life is caused by the bad choices of others. When it happens we might be emotionally or spiritually paralyzed as Jacob was. We looked at Genesis 37:31-35, 35:17-19, 42:38, 43:1-7, 45:25-28, and 46:28-30 to see how Jacob deeply impacted by thinking his son Joseph was dead.

The second in the If Only series. In this series we talk about the baggage and regrets we accumulate over our lives. Sometimes the baggage is a direct result of our own mistakes. Reuben, and Joseph’s other older brothers, exemplify this. Our primary passages are, Genesis 37:18-24, 35:22, 42:18-22, 49:3-4.
