Spoilers for 'Edgar' introductory scenario by Oliver Vulliamy and 2dSF in Itras By: Menagerie
Show Notes
This week, Fiona is joined by Doro, Frank, Jon, Kat, and special GM Rob for Itras By: A surreal roleplaying game set in a city full of strange occurrences, unusual places, and bizarre characters.
Published by Vagrant Workshop, Itras By is a setting that lies somewhere between European city life in the 1920s and the dream worlds of depth psychology.
At first glance, the city looks like a backdrop in a faded photograph. A snapshot from the beginnings of modernity. Trams, hats, the first automobiles, black & white silent films. But beneath that facade, we can hear the unpredictable murmur of our collective subconscious. The monsters in the basement of our psyche.
In the city center, reality is relatively stable, but the further afield you get, the more it deteriorates, mutates, and becomes dream-like.
You can find out more information about Itras By and buy your own copy on the Itras By website.

To tide us over til our next one-shot, here's a bonus episode where our host and GM Fiona interviews game designer and illustrator Fede Sohns about their upcoming RPG, 'Zephyr: An Anarchist Fantasy Game of Fleeting Identities'.
The Zephyr are the feelings of a living sentient landmass called Ophio that wanders across endless salt flats. The alien feelings come in the colours of cyan, magenta, yellow and black but can merge into hatred, love, longing - all the emotions known to us. Moreover, the Zephyr has physical form, shaping itself into mountains, rivers, plains as well as living beings.
Players play as Windfolk, creatures who live on the periphery of Ophoi, who, one day, depart from their communities to fulfill sacred obligations. They use tokens of the 4 colours to represent the composition of their characters, keeping track of their constitution, spend them as energy to overcome challenges as well as fusing them to slowly build the sentimental bonds that will shape their identities
The Kickstarter campaign for Zephyr launches 1st February and you can go check it out here!

To tide us over til our next one-shot, here's a bonus episode where our host and GM Fiona interviews Ferruccio Argento, the lead designer of the upcoming dark fantasy tabletop RPG - Blood and Doom (to be published by Dicetale Games).
In Blood and Doom, players take on the role of adventurers in a doomed world where the influence of malevolent cults is slowly corrupting the land and its people.
Doomsayers aka the GMs act as the player characters’ senses, describing events and presenting clues, while players interact both with each other and the characters inhabiting the fictive world of the game, and of course fight with monsters!
Blood and Doom uses a unique dice system and ruleset to resolve conflicts, allowing for a tremendous amount of suspense to be added to the stories fleshed out by the entire playing troupe, with each player’s adventurer possessing unique abilities that add to the strengths of the group as a whole.
Find out more and get notified when the Blood and Doom quickstart and Kickstarter campaign launches via the Dicetale Game newsletter!

To tide us over til our next one-shot, here's a bonus episode where our host and GM Fiona interviews award-winning game writer & author Andrew E.C. Gaska!
With over 2 decades of experience in the comics and video games industries, it is safe to say that Drew has a long list of credits to his name! His freelance franchise consulting work for 20th Century Fox has seen him write numerous series reference bibles, streamline in-universe canon and create detailed timelines for legacy franchises such as Alien, Predator, and Planet of the Apes.
Drew’s tabletop game work includes the critically acclaimed ALIEN roleplaying game, The Terminator RPG, and Carbon Grey RPG.
Most recently, it was announced that along with a new rerelease of his graphic novel ‘Critical Millennium: The Dark Frontier Blackstar Edition’, Drew is also working on an RPG for Critical Millennium, a system that would use the official Magnetic Variant (D6MV) of the classic D6 game rules originally created by West End Games.

To tide us over til our next one-shot, here's a bonus episode where our host and GM Fiona interviews interviewing the co-founder and CEO of Free League Publishing, Tomas Härenstam, about the upcoming ‘Dragonbane’ RPG, a reimagining of the influential ‘Drakar och Demoner’.
‘Drakar och Demoner’ is Scandinavia's first and biggest tabletop RPG, originally launched in 1982. Now, 40 years later, Free League Publishing has announced a brand new and reimagined edition, with one foot firmly planted in the heritage of decades of Swedish gaming and the other in the modern and innovative game design for which Free League Publishing is known worldwide.
Moreover, Drakar och Demoner will be made available to an international audience, under the English title ‘Dragonbane’.
‘Dragonbane’ is described as a classic fantasy RPG full of magic, mystery, and adventure. This new edition is designed from the ground up to facilitate fast and furious play, with very little prep time and adventures that are a breeze to run. Though a toolbox allowing GMs to tell fantasy stories of all kinds, Dragonbane is a game with room for laughs at the table and even a pinch of silliness at times.
Though the Kickstarter campaign for ‘Dragonbane’ is over for the time being (and the release date for the core book is scheduled for August 2023), you can still access the quickstart PDF, including the complete introductory adventure Riddermound, and five pre-generated characters to play!
