  • Images Revisited
I know I recently did an episode on the Second Commandment and how that relates to images of Jesus, but I felt motivated to revisit this topic after a recent comment thread on a Facebook post I made.  Here I discuss the thread and the original post.  Overall, I believe we should, as brothers and sisters in Christ, discuss these topics. Please excuse my rant like nature in this episode. I pray you are encouraged and edified.

  • The Happy Baptist Episode
On this episode I interview someone who has been very encouraging to follow on Twitter. He goes by "The Happy Baptist." He is actually the inspiration behind my Twitter name, "The Happy Presbyterian." Of course, it's much happier being Presbyterian. It was a pleasure having him on as we talk some about being on Twitter and how we are just trying to be light there even when at time it is dark even between some Christians. Please take some time and listen then go follow him if you are on Twitter.

  • Well Done
I recently was at the funeral for a Christian man. After 96 years on this earth, he was welcomed home to be with the Lord. At the service the message given spoke of his life well lived. I knew this man and can attest to his example, and well lived life, following Christ. He wasn't perfect, but he was forgiven. As he entered heaven, I am sure he heard, as I long to hear, "Well done good and faithful servant. Enter into the joy of your master."

  • Broken and Contrite
Even as Christians we still sin. When we do, come to God with a broken and contrite heart as we see David cry out in Psalm 51. On this episode i read this Psalm and briefly discuss it and how we can come to God forgiven. We are forgiven and continue in grace in Christ. But when we sin, we still need to confess and come to God in Christ. Always remember Christian, you are forgiven. Does this mean sin more? May it never be. But when we do, we can come with a broken and contrite heart in Christ covered in His blood. He lived and died for you.

  • Sermon: “The Bible Tells Me So”
On this last Lord's Day, I had the honor of exhorting in the morning at Calvary OPC in Ringoes, NJ and in the evening at my church, Grace OPC in Hamilton, NJ. I was scheduled to be in the pulpit at my church already but was called in for a pulpit supply on shorter notice for Calvary. I was already working on 1 Corinthians 15:1-11 so I preached this text at both churches.  Here is the recording from the evening service at Grace. May this encourage you and bless you. May God bless this message. If you are looking for a reformed church, I have linked to both churches below and an OPC church finder.

  • The Best News Ever!
I talk about a Tweet I post everyday and why it is important for Christians to share the message found in the Tweet. We need not be afraid to share the best news ever!

Repent and believe the gospel. Christ died and rose from the dead for sinners, by name. He did all the work necessary to rescue you from hell and bring you to eternal life with Him. Believe it. Turn to Christ and live.

  • Breaking The Second
(Apologies: Audio sound quality changes during podcast.  I did not realize my external mic turned off during recording and only the computer mic picked up the sound. Not that my productions have great sound anyway. We are a low budget production.)
On this episode I discuss my thought on the second commandment and how it relates to images of Jesus.  Is it ok for Christians to watch movies, tv shows, and productions with actors playing the role of Jesus?  Are nativity scenes a good thing? I do my best to explain what the Bible teaches with some help from the Westminster Larger Catechism.
“You shall not make for yourself a carved image, or any likeness of anything that is in heaven above, or that is in the earth beneath, or that is in the water under the earth. Exodus 20:4
    Westminster Larger Catechism
Q 109: What are the sins forbidden in the second commandment?
Answer: The sins forbidden in the second commandment are, all devising,1 counseling,2 commanding,3 using,4 and anywise approving, any religious worship not instituted by God himself;5 tolerating a false religion;6 the making any representation of God, of all or of any of the three persons, either inwardly in our mind, or outwardly in any kind of image or likeness of any creature whatsoever;7 all worshiping of it,8 or God in it or by it;9 the making of any representation of feigned deities,10 and all worship of them, or service belonging to them;11 all superstitious devices,12 corrupting the worship of God,13 adding to it, or taking from it,14 whether invented and taken up of ourselves,15 or received by tradition from others,16 though under the title of antiquity,17 custom,18 devotion,19 good intent, or any other pretense whatsoever;20 simony;21 sacrilege;22 all neglect,23 contempt,24 hindering,25 and opposing the worship and ordinances which God hath appointed.26
