Your faith is not just a set of beliefs. Your faith always has an emotional element to it. An emotional view of God’s promises that affects you in some way. It’s an emotional response that the Bible refers to as “hope.” A hope that looks up and looks forward in all your horizontal circumstances. Understanding the Bible’s reasons for hope will enable your emotions to become more and more driven by hope rather than discouragement or discontentment. That’s the subject of this episode. Titus 3:4–8 NIV 4 But when the kindness and love of God our Savior appeared, 5 he saved us, not because of righteous things we had done, but because of his mercy. He saved us through the washing of rebirth and renewal by the Holy Spirit, 6 whom he poured out on us generously through Jesus Christ our Savior, 7 so that, having been justified by his grace, we might become heirs having the hope of eternal life. 8 This is a trustworthy saying. 1 Peter 1:3–6 NIV 3 Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ! In his great mercy he has given us new birth into a living hope through the resurrection of Jesus Christ from the dead, 4 and into an inheritance that can never perish, spoil or fade. This inheritance is kept in heaven for you, 5 who through faith are shielded by God’s power until the coming of the salvation that is ready to be revealed in the last time. 6 In all this you greatly rejoice.
