Everyone we spoke to for this series had a very different personal experience of moving back to New Zealand this year, but they all had one thing in common. In every case, the landing back into New Zealand society was bumpier than expected, on both an emotional and professional level.

This week we hear from Julia Arnott-Neenee, Rachel Morris and Mahoney Turnbull – as well as Jane's own experiences of returning with her family – about the unforeseen challenges they've faced in readjusting to life in New Zealand. What does it say about us as a country, and about those who’ve returned to find the reality doesn’t necessarily match their expectations?
