August 27, 2023What Does the Bible Say About the Witnesses of Jesus' Resurrection?Send us Fan MailIn this episode, Arnie and Fred discuss some of those who witnessed the resurrection of Jesus during the 40 days He spent on the earth and before His ascension. There were soldiers who guarded the tomb who told the religious leaders what was done who were paid by them to lie about it. Peter and the disciple who loved Jesus were mentioned. It is believed that the one who loved Jesus was John. Several women are mentioned by name who saw Him. Two individuals on the road to Emmaus spoke with Jesus after His resurrection and had a meal with Him. Various numbers of the apostles saw Jesus on numerous occasions during those 40 days. The occasion Stephen saw Him is described in Acts 7. We also know that the two disciples who were selected to be considered to replace Judas saw Jesus. Paul tells us how many brethren saw Jesus on one occasion. We discuss what Paul says about the time he saw Jesus. Take about 30-minutes to listen in on our discussion. August 20, 2023What Does the Bible Say About Jesus' Trials and Crucifixion?Send us Fan MailIn this episode, Arnie and Fred begin discussing the trials Jesus was subjected to in the Jews attempts to falsely charge Him of violating Moses Law. We talk about their attempts that resulted in getting false witnesses to perjure themselves. Initially, Jesus was dragged before 2 Jewish High Priests. On each occasion He was beaten at some point during the questioning. He was also brought before Pontius Pilate twice. We discuss the results of those meetings and what Pontius Pilate concluded from them. Again, He was beaten severely. Jesus also had a hearing before Herod Antipas the Tetrarch of Galilee. We look at that meeting and note again that Jesus was beaten. We end our discussion of Jesus' crucifixion by noting what Isaiah said concerning Jesus' physical condition when He was placed on the cross. We begin our discussion of Jesus' resurrection by noting Matthew's account of what the angel at the tomb and Jesus later said to the first witnesses. We talk about the tendency that the young sometimes lack a measure of humility, seeing themselves somewhat superior to their elders. We note an Old Testament situation that shows us the danger of this. We close this episode out by discussing the fact that the responsibilities we have imply both rewards and penalties. One's giving on the first day of the week is often a reliable indicator. We need to remember that our resources really belong to the Lord. Next, we look at the fact that each Christian has a responsibility to teach others. Jesus gave this responsibility to us which requires us to cultivate this ability in the ways the Bible tells us. These abilities ultimately are required for one to become an elder, deacon or even the wives of these men. We talk about what every individual Christian must do to prepare to serve the Lord better as they get older. We move to the need for family guidance. We note that the home is the training ground to learn the various spiritual needs each Christian has. The next generation of leaders in the church obtain their basic training in the family. We complete this episode by beginning our discussion about self-control and the fact that both one's words and deeds are windows into the soul. We will complete this discussion in the next episode.
