In this episode, Arnie and Fred discuss some of those who witnessed the resurrection of Jesus during the 40 days He spent on the earth and before His ascension. There were soldiers who guarded the tomb who told the religious leaders what was done who were paid by them to lie about it. Peter and the disciple who loved Jesus were mentioned. It is believed that the one who loved Jesus was John. Several women are mentioned by name who saw Him. Two individuals on the road to Emmaus spoke with Jesus after His resurrection and had a meal with Him. Various numbers of the apostles saw Jesus on numerous occasions during those 40 days. The occasion Stephen saw Him is described in Acts 7. We also know that the two disciples who were selected to be considered to replace Judas saw Jesus. Paul tells us how many brethren saw Jesus on one occasion. We discuss what Paul says about the time he saw Jesus. Take about 30-minutes to listen in on our discussion. In this episode, Arnie and Fred begin discussing the trials Jesus was subjected to in the Jews attempts to falsely charge Him of violating Moses Law. We talk about their attempts that resulted in getting false witnesses to perjure themselves. Initially, Jesus was dragged before 2 Jewish High Priests. On each occasion He was beaten at some point during the questioning. He was also brought before Pontius Pilate twice. We discuss the results of those meetings and what Pontius Pilate concluded from them. Again, He was beaten severely. Jesus also had a hearing before Herod Antipas the Tetrarch of Galilee. We look at that meeting and note again that Jesus was beaten.  We end our discussion of Jesus' crucifixion by noting what Isaiah said concerning Jesus' physical condition when He was placed on the cross. We begin our discussion of Jesus' resurrection by noting Matthew's account of what the angel at the tomb and Jesus later said to the first witnesses. All of the accounts by Matthew, Mark and Luke mention the transfiguration. That being the case, we look at that term and what is meant by it. Peter was among those who were there, and he discussed it in his second letter. We look at that account. We then move on to talking about several of the over 50 miracles that Jesus performed. Arnie and Fred begin by noticing the Old Testament prophecy of Jesus' virgin birth. We notice an important word in Mathew's reminder of what Isaiah said about it. We talk about why Joseph and Mary were in Bethlehem before Jesus birth. We talk about the shepherds who heard of His birth and how that occurred. We next look at Jesus' baptism, where it occurred, who performed it and why it was necessary. We discuss all four accounts of His baptism and note that they all agree. In this final episode of what the Bibe says about responsible Christians, Arnie and Fred begin by finishing the point about self -control. In particular, we discuss the need to control our tongue by avoiding what is said to be sins of the tongue.  Jesus had something to say about the words we use, and we note that. We move on to the subject of humility. We look at what Paul, Peter and the Hebrew writer say about this. We talk about the tendency that the young sometimes lack a measure of humility, seeing themselves somewhat superior to their elders. We note an Old Testament situation that shows us the danger of this. We close this episode out by discussing the fact that the responsibilities we have imply both rewards and penalties. In this second episode on responsible Christians, Arnie and Fred continue their discussion of whether we manage our resources carefully in serving the Lord. One's giving on the first day of the week is often a reliable indicator. We need to remember that our resources really belong to the Lord. Next, we look at the fact that each Christian has a responsibility to teach others. Jesus gave this responsibility to us which requires us to cultivate this ability in the ways the Bible tells us. These abilities ultimately are required for one to become an elder, deacon or even the wives of these men.  We talk about what every individual Christian must do to prepare to serve the Lord better as they get older. We move to the need for family guidance. We note that the home is the training ground to learn the various spiritual needs each Christian has. The next generation of leaders in the church obtain their basic training in the family. We complete this episode by beginning our discussion about self-control and the fact that both one's words and deeds are windows into the soul. We will complete this discussion in the next episode. We look at how His parable includes what we call in the episode, Responsible Christians. We answer the question, How Much Responsibility Do I Have? There is a formula that is expressed in what the Bible says in a number of places, and we look at that. We discuss the fact that God knows our capacities and the unfortunate truth that we many times underestimate them.  We begin to address a number of our responsibilities and run out of time to complete that subject. In this episode, Arnie and Fred discuss our example that everyone sees as we live our lives. We look at what does the Bible say about this. We begin by noting what Paul said to the Christians in Corinth. Of particular interest, is the fact that they formerly had been worshippers of idols. He has a long discussion with them on the issue of eating meat that was offered to the pagan deities and whether there was a problem in doing so. Arnie and Fred continue their discussion of a father's role by noting that a father is required by God to correct his children. Solomon has a good bit to say about this and we look at several of his Proverbs teaching this. Paul and the Hebrew writer also teach us about this concept. Encouragement of children is also in the mix, and we discuss this. The father's responsibility as head or leader of the family is an important role for him. We examine this and talk about why God would require this of fathers and the result if this responsibility is not exercised.
