July 18, 2021What Does The Bible Say About Messiah's Betrayal and Trial?Send us Fan MailIn this episode, Arnie and Fred talk about Jesus's betrayal by Judas Iscariot and the trial that followed. We notice that Judas collaborated with the chief priests which had been prophesied by David in one of his Psalms and was fulfilled in Gethsemane. We talk about the 30 pieces of silver that Judas received, the prophesy concerning it and the significance of the amount. We note the number of times that Jesus stood before the Jewish officials and the Roman authorities. There were a number of false accusers that faced Jesus and we note the prophesy relating to them. Jesus offered no defense against these false accusations and again there is a prophesy in the Old Testament relating to this situation. Finally we look at the abuse that Jesus endured at the hands of the Jewish rulers as well as the Roman soldiers and the prophecy concerning these actions. We note the prophecy and what Jesus said about it. We continue by looking at Moses' prophecy about the Messiah and God's Prophet. Isaiah prophesied about a "corner stone" and we detail New Testament passages relating to this prophecy. Zechariah tells us about what Jesus' apostles did hundreds of years before the occasion. The abuse that Jesus suffered and His crucifixion is prophesied by several Old Testament prophets. We discuss those passages. Messianic Prophecies are some of the powerful evidences that God has provided to us in His Word that assures us of the truthfulness of the fact that Jesus is the promised Messiah who came in the flesh to save us from our sins. We begin with the location of Jesus' birth, what the prophet Micah says about it and Luke and Matthew's notice of what he wrote. Next we note that Daniel's prophesy concerning Jesus' birth was specific even to the number of years after a historical event. We look at the situation of king Herod slaughtering infants under 2 years old that Jeremiah had prophesied hundreds of years before the event. We know that Jesus preached throughout Galilee and find that Isaiah made a prophecy concerning that activity and we look at that prophecy. We note that Jesus spoke of His church and kingdom in the same context when He discussed that subject with Peter and the rest of the apostles. We point out the original meaning of the Koine Greek word translated "church" in most English bibles. We look at passages that uses the word "church" and "kingdom" in them. We deal with a number of passages in the Old Testament that prophesy the establishment of the church/kingdom and when these prophesies were made. We close out this episode by pointing out some passages in the New Testament that the Lord's kingdom was at hand or nigh and the Lord's church would be built soon. It is a subject many times at funerals when we talk about seeing our loved ones again. Solomon tells us that our spirit returns to God when our bodies die. We note numerous passages that refer to the resurrection of our bodies. Paul in particular has a whole chapter in First Corinthians discussing that very subject. We talk about the definition of the word and the fact that it is referred to no less than 42 times in the New Testament. We look at the three times in the Old Testament that individuals rose from the dead. There are a number of instances in the New Testament that we talk about. Of course, the example of Jesus' resurrection is also noted and especially the example of Thomas being a reliable witness of that event. We complete this episode by noting the comfort an obedient servant of the Lord can experience knowing he will live again and be with the Lord in heaven. We start out by talking about why the question is even asked in the Bible about being saved. Saved from what? We move to the answers that are not given in the Bible, primarily because many people are told to do many things the Bible does not say. We spend most of our time looking at some of the some of the example of people in the Bible that asked "What must I do?" or "What must I do to be saved?" Those noted are the Philippian jailer, the 3,000 Jews in Jerusalem on Pentecost, Saul of Tarsus, the Ethiopian Royal Treasurer and Cornelius and his household and neighbors. We finally note that there was a consistent answer provided by the inspired apostles to the question of what one must do to be saved. May 16, 2021What Does The Bible Say About The Judgment #2?Send us Fan MailIn this second episode about the Judgment, Arnie and Fred begin by discussing the fact that the Bible is the standard the Lord will use to judge all people. We talk about some of the ways various people teach that others will be judged and the fact that many seem to be in no hurry to prepare for their judgment. Additionally we note that the time of the Lord's return to judge His people is not known and consequently could be anytime, sooner or later. We discuss the fact that the Lord will judge each person individually. Each soul will give account for his own actions and conduct whether good or bad, for the Bible states that there is a record kept of what each one has done. The only way to be forgiven of the sins we commit and thus avoid punishment for them is to obey the gospel of Christ. Finally, we note what Jesus said about eternity which will follow His judgment of all souls. Take about 30 minutes to listen in on this final episode on the Judgment.
