We note what the definition is to tempt someone. We look at what things are that tempt are. We talk about a particular Bible passage that specifies the three forms of temptation that Satan uses to tempt us to sin and note that Satan used these to tempt Jesus in the wilderness. November 07, 2021What Does The Bible Say About What To Pray For #5?Send us Fan MailIn this fifth and final episode about what to pray for, Arnie and Fred continue discussing some things we should be reminded of to include in our prayers. We begin by noting the importance to remember our fellowmen and those in authority. Most of these are not Christians and consequently not saved. God wants all to be saved and we need to remember that and pray for them. Both Jesus on the cross and Stephen while he was being stoned prayed for their enemies who were in the process of killing them, requesting that God would forgive them and not lay the sins to their charge. We discuss how this applies to us today. Paul throughout the New Testament, in writing to the churches, reminds the members to pray for fellow Christians. Prayers for those who serve us, elders, deacons, preachers and teachers are always needed. We are to remember that. We find examples of prayers for the physically sick offered in the New Testament as well as prayers for those who are lost. We have discussed just a few of the things we ought to pray for. God hears the prayers of the righteous and we need to offer fervent prayers that we have considered carefully. We pray that this five part discussion has been beneficial for you. October 31, 2021What Does The Bible Say About What To Pray For #4Send us Fan MailIn this fourth episode, Arnie and Fred continue to discuss what to pray for. We begin where we left off in our last conversation by noting that we ought to pray for good leadership, both in religious and secular areas. Paul wrote about praying for those in authority and for all men. We are served by a number of people in various positions of authority and should pray for them to serve in such a way that we will continue to enjoy the peace to worship and serve God as He requires and to live peacefully together. We have Bible guidance to pray for wisdom in choosing the right lifetime mate. God's people prayed for children and for their children to grow up as godly children of God. We find the bible writers encouraging saints to always be faithful and prayers are offered for that to be so. We discuss some things we ought to be reminded of like praying for our Nation. October 24, 2021What Does The Bible Say About What To Pray For #3?Send us Fan MailIn this third episode, Arnie and Fred continue discussing the need to pray for peace and that we may have it. The Bible includes instances where God's people prayed for forgiveness. We look at several of them. Seeking mercy is something that we can include in our prayers as the Publican did. God promises His faithful saints eternal life and we find that subject in their recorded prayers as examples for us. We find Paul praying that God's blessings be extended to others and that is also mentioned in the Old Testament. We are to teach others the gospel and praying for them and other disciples doing the teaching is something we ought to include in our prayers. Finally, we are to even pray for our enemies, as Jesus directed us to do. Take about 30 minutes to listen in on our discussion of what to pray for. October 17, 2021What Does The Bible Say About What To Pray For #2?Send us Fan MailThis is a second episode in which Arnie and Fred discuss what the Bible says about what to pray for. We begin where we left off in the last episode talking about praying for boldness in teaching and preaching the gospel. Next we note that Jesus prayed for more laborers to work in propagating the gospel and that is certainly something we ought to pray for. James says we ought to pray for wisdom and we look at that. Jeremiah started to make excuses when the Lord was sending him to those in Judah and we ought to avoid doing the same thing concerning the need for us to go to those who are lost in sin. We look at Solomon's attitude when the Lord confronted him as the new king of Israel. We find a number of prayers offered by Jesus and others for protection from evil and note this is something we can pray for also. It was dangerous in the first century to travel from place to place. We see prayers offered for the safety of those traveling, which we can also pray for. Deliverance from foes is also discussed for we know there are those who do not want us to teach the truth to others. We end this episode by looking at the first passage relating tp praying for peace. In our next episode, we will begin by looking at several other passages mentioning prayers for peace. Take about 30 minutes to follow our discussion. We note some of the topics of prayers such as giving of thanks and for the success of the gospel. October 03, 2021What Does The Bible Say About Luke The Beloved Physician #2?Send us Fan MailArnie and Fred continue their discussion of Luke who is referred to as "the beloved Physician" in Colossians 4 verse 14. We begin by noting that he was an eager gospel teacher who taught Theophilus who was an official in the Roman government. Luke wrote 2 letters to Theophilus which are Luke and Acts. He traveled with Paul and stayed alone in strange lands to continue teaching the gospel. We note that Luke was a reliable historian who investigated fully those things he wrote about, noting this in the first chapter of the epistle that bears his name. We discuss the fact that he was known and loved by the saints, affectionately mentioned by Paul on two occasions. He evidently used his medical knowledge freely to benefit others, especially the brethren he traveled with. We note that it was certainly providential that a physician would be available to those early Christians as they travelled in their efforts to spread the gospel. Our discussion includes the fact that Luke became Paul's companion and aide in propagating the gospel. Perhaps having to leave family, friends and his practice to do so. We end this episode by talking about the fact that Luke was a loyal disciple who helped to attend to Paul while he was in prison and in his many struggles. It was due to Luke's loyalty to Christ that made it possible for him to serve as he did. Take about 30 minutes to listen in on our discussion. Have your Bible available to verify we are discussing what the Bible says about Luke, the beloved physician.
