What Happened When

We skip ahead one week in our watchalongs (because there is no show from 09-13-86 available).

In this episode, the heat between the Midnight Express with Jim Cornette and the Road Warriors with Paul Ellering heats up with a big angle that is going to culminate at Starrcade '86.

Plus, the interviews from Dusty Rhodes and Magnum T.A., Tully Blanchard, Ric Flair and Arn Anderson has more passion than ever. Why? Maybe it is because Dusty is now the NWA World TV Champion and many are upset...then again...maybe not.

We just know this is a serious episode from your favorite NWA stars.

The National Tag Team Championship is rebranded and becomes the US Tag Team Championship. So says Jim Crockett and most of the program is used to promote the one night tournament in the Omni to crown the first ever US Tag Team Champs.

Also, Wahoo McDaniel is the new National Heavyweight Champion with a win over Tully Blanchard at the Forum in Los Angeles, the Kansas Jayhawks confront Jim Cornette and Big Bubba, Ric Flair and Mike Jackson have a great TV match and the end of the show sees the Four Horsemen confront Dick Murdoch only to have Dusty Rhodes and Magnum TA come to the ring to help him in a pretty good ending.

Fall is almost here in 1986 and with it comes excitement and heartbreak, this is JCP in the 80's!

The Great American Bash is over and we move on to late summer in the world of the NWA and JCP.

Later this same night, after this show aired on TBS, Ric Flair would win back the NWA World Heavyweight Title from the American Dream Dusty Rhodes in St. Louis.

Flair will give a very good, serious interview on this show setting up the match. Additionally, we have footage of Flair and Dusty from Kansas City and the aftermath with Tully Blanchard and JJ Dillon.

We will also hear from Nature Boy Buddy Landel and Superstar Bill Dundee as well as a gloating Paul Jones and his army as they brag about cutting the hair of Jimmy Valiant.

The Rock and Roll Express and the Andersons begin an angle that set up matches during the "Super Summer Sizzler Tour."

Matches? Yeah, there is some, but in 1986 it's all about the talk. And it was damn good. Enjoy.

It's the last day of the Great American Bash 1986 as Saturday August 2, would be in the finale of the tour in Atlanta's Fulton County Stadium. This TBS show, done mostly in the studio, has some very special moments. Such as, the first interview with new NWA World Heavyweight Champion Dusty Rhodes and footage of Jimmy Valiant losing his hair to Paul Jones.

The show also begins to build new regulars to TBS like Dick Murdoch, the Kansas Jayhawks and Superstar Bill Dundee along with the returning Buddy Landel.

The Rock and Roll Express Super Summer Sizzler Tour is straight ahead and so would be the final matches in the best-of-seven for the U.S. Title between Magnum T.A. and Nikita Koloff.

It's all here! The much talked about Great American Bash from Greensboro on July 26, 1986. This is where Dusty Rhodes beats Ric Flair for the NWA World Heavyweight Title in front of a raucous sellout crowd.

It is also where Jimmy Valiant loses his hair to Paul Jones, and Magnum T.A. and Nikita Koloff collide in match four of the best-of-seven for the U.S. Heavyweight Title.

We are joined by David Crockett as we look back to a great time in the history of Jim Crockett Promotions and the NWA.

Our next stop, as we look back at 1986, is the fourth stop on the Great American Bash on tour: Memorial Stadium in Charlotte, NC.

This is the original home of the "Bash" in 1985, but a year later it was the fourth on the tour after, Philadelphia, Washington D.C. and Memphis.

A classic event, including Shaska Whatley getting a haircut thanks to Jimmy Valiant, a classic taped fist match between Tully Blanchard and Ron Garvin and what can be considered a five star match between Ric Flair and Ricky Morton.

Summer time pro wrestling fun is only a click away.

Another 6:05 show that is taken out of the studio and on the road during the Great American Bash of 1986.

This time, from Columbia, SC, a very loud and lively crowd will get to see, the Rock and Roll Express against Ole and Arn Anderson in a 30 minute time limit draw. But there is more, Don Kernodle is in action, Tully Blanchard against Sam Houston and the first couple of minutes only (sorry) of the Midnight Express against Dusty Rhodes and Magnum T.A.

Plus many great interviews, may of which were conducted by Jim Cornette.

It's the middle of the summer and it's Bash Time!
