What Happened When

So this was NWA-TNA in 2002, huh? Yeah, it was bad. Oh, it had some great moments: like Low Ki vs AJ Styles and Christopher Daniels and Elix Skipper vs The Flying Elvises, but most it sucked. From a "little person" doing some "questionable things" in a trash can, to Francine and Jasmine fighting in a shower, this was known more for its sex than its wrestling. You're invited to join Conrad and Tony as they watch a show loaded with wrestling talent, but empty on entertainment value.

Lot of crazy stuff in this one, kids. Complete with a disturbance from members of Xtreme Pro Wrestling, the event from the Grand Olympic Auditorium in Los Angeles, had very memorable moments. From the Jerry Lynn-Steve Carino bloodbath, to Justin Credible against Tommy Dreamer, to a very exciting six-man tag match to RVD vs Scotty Anton, this night had something for everyone.

This final ECW produced pay per view was in front of a raucous Los Angeles crowd that made for a fine evening.

And let's not forget about Francine !!

The same night WCW had Goldberg vs Hollywood Hogan for the World title on Nitro, the WWE countered with a taped show from State College, PA. It wasn't the best show, but the story lines were good enough to make it an excellent show.

With the Undertaker, Stone Cold, Mankind, D-Lo Brown, Terry Funk, Vader, Bradshaw, Val Venis, Dustin Runnels, D-Generation X, Ken Shamrock, Savio Vega, Road Warrior Hawk and Mabel, it had plenty of star power. But unfortunately, it has had a couple of matches from Brawl 4 All. (ugh)

Conrad watches as Tony looks on for the very first time at Raw from July 6, 1998.

It's WCW at its very worst! Welcome to the Great American Bash 2000. It was the final GAB from WCW and it was the night Goldberg turned heel and business REALLY went down the toilet. Even though there were other such big names as Ric Flair, Hulk Hogan, Kevin Nash, Scott Steiner, Rick Steiner, DDP and Sting, there was no stopping the WCW-to-Out of Business train.

All your favorites are here: Joey Styles, Rob Van Dam, the Dudley Boyz, Shane Douglas, Raven, Tommy Dreamer, Francine, Joel Gertner, Beulah McGillicutty, Sabu, the Sandman, Tazz and Jerry Lawler!

Jerry Lawler? That's right, the King was part of a "WWE Invasion" angle during this time as the answer to the NWO on WCW.

Conrad and Tony will watch two episodes of ECW Hardcore TV from June of 1997; June 10 and June 17. It is two shows full of great action and awesome interviews.

One of the most iconic Monday Nitros ever. Loaded with talent and backstage politics, this event, from Boston was, in a nutshell what WCW was all about, and why WCW went crumbling down.

The lineup was spectacular. Hulk Hogan, the Macho Man, Ric Flair, Roddy Piper, Lex Luger, DDP, Eddie Guerrero, Chris Benoit, the Steiners, Harlem Heat, Dean Malenko, Chris Jericho, a six man cruiserweight event...and more!

But as Conrad and Tony explain, there was plenty of behind-the-scenes turmoil that hastened the demise of WCW and muddled up the finish of the main event.

Oh, and look up in the rafters: IT'S STINNNNNGGGGGGG!!!!!!!!

It's the first edition ever of IMPACT as it aired on FSN on June of 2004. With such established stars as Shane Douglas, Dusty Rhodes and Jeff Jarrett, the show had plenty of star power. And with such performers as Elix Skipper, Amazing Red, AJ Styles, Kid Cash, Frankie Kazarian, Bobby Roode and Abyss, the future looked bright for the promotion.

Well, 16 years later, the promotion is still in business. And that actually says a lot.

Join Conrad and Tony as they go back and watch the very first TNA IMPACT and the impact it had on pro wrestling.

In January 29, 2003, Tony Schiavone made his first and only appearance in TNA. He arrived on the wishes of his friend, Vince Russo, and turned heel on Mike Tenay. It was a show loaded with talent: AJ Styles, the Rock and Roll Express, Raven, Jeff Jarrett, Amazing Red, Larry Zbyszko, Chris Harris, James Storm, Sonny Siaki, Jerry Lynn, David Flair and Kid Kash.

After the show, Schiavone left the business and was not heard from again until Conrad Thompson came into his life in 2017. Listen in as Tony watches the entire show for the very first time and tells Conrad the reasons why he walked away from the business and went another direction in his career.

This episode of Nitro was known as the funeral for Ric Flair, but it was also a funeral for WCW. The promotion was certainly a "Coffin on Roller Skates" at this point in its history.

Actually, it was chocked full of WCW stars, but there was just TOO MUCH GOING ON. You needed a scorecard and Ritalin just to keep up with everything. From a lovers spat between Billy Kidman and Torrie, to Booker T. getting fired, to the funeral, to the Norman and Ralphus car wash, to Terry Funk's non-announcement, to Kanyon's injury...whew!

Were there matches scheduled? Uh, we think so. Hogan, Scott Steiner, Vampiro, Kevin Nash and Jeff Jarrett and more were scheduled to be in action. Did they actually have matches? We can't remember.

Enjoy some of the bitter end of WCW: Nitro May 22, 2000.
