As Covid-19 caused unprecedented changes to sweep the global economy, investors and analysts have sought new ways to get a real-time picture on the effects the virus was leaving in its wake. Meanwhile, technological advances in big data and machine learning have provided new sources from which to gain a day-to-day understanding of these seismic changes. The fast-growing sector of Alternative Data has been the result.

In the first episode of The Alternative Data Podcast we introduce the concepts behind Alternative Data and explore the current lay of the land in this emerging sector.

I am joined by Saeed Amen, the co-author of The Book of Alternative Data - a comprehensive introduction to the sector, which was released earlier this year.
