Fed paused but indicated they want to hike more in the year - another .5% to bring it to 5.5% to 6.25%. They indicate economy is strong and raised the GDP forecast. They see unemployment coming down. 

The reason the market went down - because they said they will continue to raise and this is just a pause. The market thought a pause meant ending and with more rate increases this year, it’s unlikely to see a cut anytime soon unless they break something. 

When asked Powell said speed of hikes is separate. Speed was important last year, but as we get towards the end it makes sense to go slower (like they went from .75% to .5%) so moderating the pace made sense. 

He said they don’t know the extent of the banking crisis - whether it’s done or not)
