This week, U.S. Department of Labor Director of the Office of Labor-Management Standards, Jeff Freund joins Abby in the classroom to help explain the origins of Labor Day.

Jeff reveals the holiday was sparked as a way to acknowledge the dedication of service workers despite horrific labor conditions and emphasizes the importance of unions to ensure the maintenance of workers' quality of life. Later, he shares with Abby how celebrations for the holiday have evolved.
