  • Roe v Wade Scares Canadian Women, Neurodivergence in the Workplace & Eazy Love
My first guest today breaks down how. Lisa Feldstein, an Adjunct Professor at York University, teaches Health Care Law in the Faculty of Health and joins me to offer some insight into how abortion in Canada works, and how it could potentially come under attack.
Anne Brodie joins me for Saturday night at the movies and new entertainment which includes a look at Season 2 of Hacks starring Jean Smart, a modern twist on an old tale from Disney called Sneakerella, and the Lincoln Lawyer on Netflix.
Nadine Araksi is here to share how workplaces can benefit by making their space more accommodating for neurodivergent employees, and what that looks like.
We are less then a month away from the Ontario election, and all the parties have released their platforms including their plans for education. Dr. Prachi Srivastava joins me to take a look at each platform, and to highlight a few proposals of note including a return of Grade 13 from the Ontario Liberals and how that could help a lot of kids who fell behind during Covid.
Canada's beloved The Kids in the Hall "return from the dead", 27 years after their TV series ended to kill us with laughter once again! Dave Foley, Bruce McCulloch, Kevin McDonald, Mark McKinney, and Scott Thompson star in a revival launching this week and Anne Brodie has an interview with them!
Finally, Apryll Aileen wrote her latest song Eazy Love while in London, England, caught up in a misleading, whirlwind romance and then ghosted. She quickly realized a common theme while traveling and pursuing her dreams: listen closely to what people say, but more importantly, watch their actions, because people can tell you exactly what you want to hear, but it’s not necessarily the truth. She joins me to discuss and to share the new song in its entirety.

  • Neurodivergency In Women & and at Work
There is a joke in here somewhere I’m sure that the longest podcast I’ve ever recorded focuses largely on ADHD. The topic of neurodiversity however seems to be everywhere these days. Certainly amongst my peer group, I’ve seen many share recent diagnoses of ADHD and if you’re on TikTok, the explainer videos are as ubiqutous as the dancing. Listening and reading about how neurodiversity has impacted so many lives, prompted me to start learning more. Enter Nadine Araksi, one of my peers who was diagnosed in her 40s with ADHD and wrote an article for Canadian Business about supporting neurodivergency in the workplace. Together with Christina Crowe from Dig A Little Deeper we spend the next hour discussing how ADHD can present different for women, how adult diagnoses can be a game changer, and how businesses can benefit from employing a neurodiverse workforce. There’s a lot of great information in this one, and you may even find yourself having a few lightbulb moments like I did. Meet Nadine Araksi and Christina Crowe.

  • Broken Vows: Stories of Separation
Divorce is hard, but separation, as I and many many others have come to realize, can be harder. The physiological and psychological impact can be profound even in the most amicable of separations, throw in some conflict though and the devastation can be off the charts. In the coming years we will no doubt see an escalation in high conflict separations as courts struggle to keep up with what is expected to be a tidal wave of divorce filings as the world opens up again. The cascading effect of all this of course spills out into our society and the consequences are almost immeasurable. My next guest is committed to helping. Sunnie McFadden-Curtis spent over four years filming her documentary Broken Vows: Stories of Separation that began with a simple question, When a marriage ends, where do you begin? Well for now, how about right here. If you’re marriage is coming to a close, or if you’re stuck in separation limbo, then this is a podcast you won’t want to miss. Meet Sunnie McFadden Curtis.

  • Federal Budget Through a Feminist Lens, Reducing Your Carbon Footprint, and Education Inequity
The Federal Budget dropped last week, and of course, it wouldn’t be What She Said if we didn’t take a closer look at it to see how it impacts women. Ann Decter, Senior Director, Community Initiatives and Policy, at the Canadian Women’s Foundation joins me now to break down the budget through a feminist lens and shares the highs and lows of a budget that had a lot of ground to cover this year.
If you’re like most, you’re giving a lot of consideration to your carbon footprint. Thankfully, there is a company that is literally looking at your footprint. Natalie Ashdown from Evoco joins me to share how her company is looking to close the loop on unsustainable goods for good by creating plant based products that lead with performance. We take a closer look at Evoco FATES that is providing plant based insoles for the shoe industry.
I worry Anne Brodie might be in a catatonic state soon with all the new movies and shows she’s watching recently. There appears to be a bit of a boon in entertainment. This week Anne brings the goods on All My Puny Sorrows in theatres now, Outer Range on Prime Video, The First Lady debuting this week on Crave and starring incredible actresses Viola Davis, Michelle Pfeiffer and Gillian Anderson and a look at the female-centric mind-bending 8 part anthology series Roar on Apple TV+ from executive producer Nicole Kidman.
The divide between the haves and the have nots plays out in our education system daily, and perhaps nowhere more than with the social networking and connections angles that play out in our schools. Dr. Prachi Srivastva joins me to share why this happens and how we can take steps to ensure that we are closing the gap on inequities, not creating them.
TikTok can bring small businesses explosive growth, as Haley Lafontaine, owner of Oak & Willow recently found out. A small business in Northern Ontario that makes and sells eco-friendly household products and cleaners, Oak & Willow moved from a small business to a million dollar business over night and that hasn’t happened without some hiccups to attend to. Haley joins me to share what the journey has been like.
Finally, Frances Anne Solomon, a trailblazer in the flim and television industry joins me to discuss her new film Hero about Ulric Cross, the new Content Creator Database created to enhance the visibility of Women of Colour in the film industry, and Black Market Releasing which aims to connect BIPOC stories to the big screen.
