What do Protestants and Catholics have in common when it comes to Transubstantiation? Well, for starters, most of each group tends to not fully understand what it means, even if they think it's really important. In this video, Dr. Brett Salkeld dives into the the true meaning of transubstantiation as well as the history of the doctrine with the hope of showing what problem the doctrine is trying to solve. In doing this, Dr. Salkeld shows that, despite their different formulations, Calvin and Luther were trying to solve the same problem as Aquinas and other Catholic theologians who helped articulate the doctrine of transubstantiation. While holding firmly to Catholic dogma, Dr. Salkeld seeks to help transubstantiation be a source of unity, rather than division for the church moving forward. If you want to know the differences between Catholics and Protestants on the eucharist, or to know what the Catholic church teaches about transubstantiation, this video is for you.
