  • 8 of The Best Weekend Habits to Improve Your Productivity
[[:encoded, "Weekends are generally seen as the time of the week when you can relax and refresh yourself. This also serves as the much-needed rest from long hours, unbearable traffic, and strained brainpower during the week.\n\nThough weekends are to be used for rest and rejuvenation, cultivating the right habits during these few days can help you perform even better when working in your business during the week.\n\nMany successful entrepreneurs and businesspeople have tapped into the value of cultivating productive habits and skills that cross the lines of their personal and business worlds. \n\nLet’s explore 8 of the best weekend habits to improve your productivity.\n\n1. Unplug and Disconnect\nAfter a whole week of staring at electronics for hours on end, you may feel as though your weekends should have you glued to your devices. No. It shouldn’t. \n\nDuring the week, you have already spent so much time in front of your laptops, smartphones, desktops, and tablets. You have responded to emails, messages, and snuck a few late nights diving into social media too.\n\nTake a break from your devices during the weekend. Spend time with people around you, read a book, meditate, work out, and relax. \n\nWhen your body and brain are refreshed, you can perform to the best of your ability and be even more productive.\n\n2. Maintain Morning Routines\nWhen successful people get up early during the week, it extends to their weekends too. To be more productive, maintain your morning routine. Get up early, plan your day, and follow it through if you don't have a morning routine.\n\nWhen you tackle everything that may be time-consuming in the mornings, you build a habit that improves your productivity tremendously.\n\n3. Take Things One at a Time\nWeekends are the best time to try and multitask in order to get things done you don’t have time to do during the week. Everyone gets extremely tempted to multitask during the weekend in order to get as much done as possible. You may want to run on the treadmill while scrolling through social media or your newsfeed.\n\nPlease stop doing this. Instead, immerse yourself in every activity. If you are working out, be present in mind and body. Commit to each activity, and you’ll be able to run a mile longer, read 3 more chapters, or meditate for one more hour.\n\nWhen you are present for every task, you can be fully refreshed when you go back to work on Monday. \n\n4. Have a Plan\nJust because it is the weekend doesn’t mean that you should throw out your routine or carefully laid plans. \n\nIf you plan your daily activities, you should have a plan for how your weekend will go. Of course, your plan doesn’t have to be and shouldn’t be work-related. You can plan a meditation session, go for a longer walk with the dog, meet up with friends, take a nap, and do any other hobby or activity you would enjoy doing.\n\nHigh achievers understand that taking time to unplug positively affects productivity, motivation, and focus.\n\n5. Prioritize Your Relationships\nSuccessful professionals such as Steve Jobs agree that though your relationships may have nothing to do with your business success and profits, it doesn’t mean that they are unimportant to your business.\n\nAs a person, you need to reconnect with the people around you. On the weekends, find time to hang out with friends, talk to your spouse or partner, play with your kids, or strike a conversation with close friends or even your neighbors.\n\nDoing this removes your focus from any business-related matter and helps you come back with a fresh pair of eyes.\n\n6. Reflect on Your Lessons\nYou learn something new every day or every week in your business. During the hectic environment, you may miss out on these lessons and may forget about them.\n\nThe weekend is a good time to reflect on each event and the lessons you have learned from them. Careful reflections help you understand information and lessons properly. You can also glean new ideas, paths, and correc

  • 5 Ways to Manifest Confidence in Yourself
[[:encoded, "Confidence. Some people have it aplenty. Others struggle to be and act confident. Others of us are in the middle of the road; we are confident in certain situations, and in others we take a backseat because we don’t trust ourselves enough to embrace confidence. \n\nHaving self-confidence is important in our personal and in our professional lives. Many of us, however, struggle to find it and use it. When you struggle with confidence, you find you continue to struggle to pull forth your self-confidence, and this lack of confidence can make it difficult for you to success or to inspire others toward success. \n\nWhen you’re self-confident, you feel good about yourself and your body responds by secreting hormones that give you a further boost. One way to boost confidence is to recall a time when you were at your most confident – that will help! \n\nWhen you feel self-conscious, your confidence will lag. Determine why you’re self-conscious and take the necessary steps to alleviate that feeling. Learn more, take charge, talk with someone to help you gain confidence, so you can move forward. \n\nLet’s explore five ways to help you build your self-confidence even more.\n \n1.\tBe aware of how you talk to yourself. If you criticize yourself and your actions, your confidence suffers. Challenge any assumptions you have, determine where you are, and in what circumstances you criticize yourself. Find ways to treat yourself to better self-talk. \n\n2.\tKeep a “negativity journal.” This may seem counterintuitive, but stick with me. When you feel negative about yourself or your abilities, write it down. Look at what you’ve written and determine whether it’s true. For example: I can’t talk in front of a group. Is that true? Of course, you CAN talk in front of a group, but you may be nervous or anxious about talking in front of a group. That is a different task entirely. Once you write down your self-defeating belief, you can move forward and find a way to defeat it. If you’re nervous to talk in front of a group, join Toastmasters, for example. Start small and practice on friends or colleagues. When you have to talk in front of a group, choose a topic about which you are fully confident. \n\n3.\tHow do others see you? Do people come to you and ask for your advice? Do they seek your help with projects? When you’re dealing with low self-esteem and your confidence is lagging, write down your skills and those areas in which you are an expert. This will help you build confidence and know that even though you don’t know everything (and who does!) you are an expert in XYZ and that’s great! \n\nA “Me File”, as I call it, is simply a place where you keep all the great comments people have said about you, your service, your staff, and your firm. You can keep an electronic document as well as a manila folder with cards or tangible things people have sent you. When you feel your confidence slipping to less than 100%, read all the great comments people have said about you over the years to get your confidence cup flowing over again. \n\nTo download a simple way to track your glowing comments from clients and people who have worked with you, go to https://www.accountabilitycoach.com/request-your-complimentary-me-file-sample/ or http://bit.ly/me-file.\n\n4.\tYour self-confidence comes from within. Yes, it’s nice to have validation from others, but your confidence is innate. You need to pull upon your own confidence reserves and KNOW that you have what it takes! \n\n5.\tFocus your attentions. If you’re struggling with confidence in your business, find an area about which you are truly passionate. Turn your energies into that project or topic and regain your confidence. Work on a project, meet or exceed a deadline, help a colleague with something he or she is struggling with, and you will feed and fill your self-confidence well. \n\nWhile we don’t always embrace the “fake it until you make it” philosophy, there are those times when even if your con

  • 6 Tips to Keep Moving Toward Your Goals
[[:encoded, "Have you ever been driving and realized just a bit too late that you missed your exit? Have you ever traveled somewhere just to find that you’ve seen the same street corner three times, and you realize you’ve been going in circles? Perhaps you took the wrong turn because you were distracted by your favorite song on the radio. Or maybe your GPS routed you the wrong way. These inconveniences can be enough to forget why you started in the first place! You might veer off course or give up altogether and go home. As a business owner, these same annoyances can crop up when working to achieve your goals.\n\nHow you approach your goals isn’t that different from traveling! Your motivation is the fuel that powers you and gives you the focus and follow-through. Let’s explore six mile-markers, or tips, to help you stay on course from start to finish.\n\nMile Marker #1: Goals vs. Values\nLet’s take a closer look at this traveling analogy: if a goal is like a destination, then your values are the reason to hit the road. If you don’t know why you’re traveling to a destination, it’ll make it much harder to get there. \n\nNo matter the venture, make sure that you understand why you’re pursuing your goals. Check that your sales align with your core principles and values. Coordinating these will set you up with a full tank of motivation.\n\nTo download my complimentary Values Clarification Exercise to help get you started on defining and getting clarity on your core values, go to https://www.accountabilitycoach.com/values-clarification/.\n\nMile Marker #2: Picture It\nWhat does reaching your goal look like? More and more, visualization is vital for achieving goals. While you don’t have to break out glue or clippings for a vision board, having a clear image in your mind is crucial to jumpstart your motivation. Taking some quality time to look inward and imagine reaching your goal can hone your focus and keep you feeling inspired to follow through. \n\nVisualizing can be the tools or methods that help you maintain motivation. Tools like calendars, Gantt charts, or spreadsheets can give you a literal vision of a goal and your progress. This also keeps your motivation burning strong.\n\nMile Marker #3: Make Pit Stops\nEven long-haul truckers need to rest and refuel. In the same way, break your goals down into smaller parts to keep your energy up. When you break a massive goal down, it also feels less daunting and more manageable. It gives you a chance to celebrate the progress you’ve made along the way.\n\nYou may be familiar with the sense of satisfaction when half your to-do list is checked off. This can create a domino effect in building up momentum, confidence, and motivation to continue to strive to reach your goals.\n\nMile Marker #4: Say ‘No’ to Multitasking\nThere is growing evidence indicating that multitasking isn’t all it’s cracked up to be. In fact, juggling several tasks to save time often results in lower quality work and leaves you drained and scatter-brained. \n\nAccording to Happify, you’ve got a certain amount of physical, mental, emotional, and spiritual energy to put toward a goal. Whether that means being on your feet, hunched over a desk, or managing the stress of a tight deadline all day, you’ve got a limited amount of energy. Make sure that you don’t run on fumes just to get more done in less time. \n\nMile Marker #5: Plan for Detours\nIt’s great to be ambitious in your goals. How else can you grow and exceed expectations? It’s also worth managing ambition when working toward your goals. Acknowledging that mistakes or obstacles are possible isn’t pessimistic. It’s realistic. It allows room for you to have a back-up plan if things don’t go exactly as expected. \n\nA big part of maintaining motivation is the sense of momentum and energy you’re putting toward it. If you feel blindsided by a slip-up or unexpected turn, you may lose confidence in your abilities, your team, or even your goals. The best way to avoid thi

  • 7 Habits to Help You Beat Procrastination
[[:encoded, "Procrastination hits at the most inopportune times and halts progress, makes us miss deadlines and causes overwhelm. There are a myriad of reasons for procrastination and in order to help push past its potential downward spiral, you need to understand the reasons you procrastinate. Once you understand the reasons behind your procrastination, you can take steps to alleviate and eliminate it, so you can move forward. \n\nProcrastination can be a threat to your professional productivity and your livelihood. \n\nWhy do you procrastinate? \nThere are many who believe procrastination is a time management issue, but it’s not – it’s an emotional issue. When you delve into the emotional reasons you procrastinate you can move past it. \n\nHere are five reasons people procrastinate: \n1.\tYou’re not sure the project is worth the perceived effort you need to put in. If you’re not invested in the task you can tell yourself “it’s not worth it.” You may be right, but you need to determine how missing this deadline could impact your future self and business. \n\n2.\tYou fear failure. This is a major reason for procrastination – if you don’t start, you can’t fail. Your fear keeps you frozen. Lack of training or knowledge of the overall project could add to that fear. \n\n3.\tYou are already overextended, but still you said “yes” to a new project. If you are already overwhelmed, and you add another project, procrastination is almost sure to follow. \n\n4.\tYour perfectionist tendencies rise up. If you’re concerned that your efforts won’t yield 100% satisfaction, you are afraid to start. The desire to produce a perfect project helps assure you don’t work on it. \n\n5.\tYour time management skills are lacking. If you procrastinate because you are overwhelmed, it could be because you truly do have too many tasks on your plate. However, you could be procrastinating because you don’t know how to properly manage your time and your tasks. Additionally, if you haven’t written down all of the tasks you need to do, you could be imaging you have more to do than you truly do. Write down everything you need to get done and you may see it’s not as overwhelming as you imagined. Prioritize everything on your list with the most important items that will help you make progress on your goals (revenue generation, for example). How many items are on your list that can be delegated – and delegate them?\n\nTo help you be even more effective and efficient, so you can achieve your goals at an accelerated rate, you can delegate more to your team members than you have or might think possible. Stop holding on to things that can be done by someone else and do only those activities that you can do and can’t be done by anyone else. Stop doing revenue generation / business development avoidance activities and delegate more! You should be doing only those activities that only you can do and nobody else can. Successful people are excellent delegators, so work at being an even better delegator and be even more successful. \n\nDownload my Free Delegation Exercise to help you identify more activities to delegate, by going to https://www.accountabilitycoach.com/delegation-list-sample/.\n\nNow that you know WHY you might be procrastinating, you can work on HOW to move past it. \n\nYou can beat procrastination – it just takes a bit of routine-setting and habit-building. Positive reinforcement will help you bust through procrastination and gain control of your time and your projects. \n\nHere are seven habits to develop that will help you beat procrastination: \n1.\tMake sure your workspace is conducive to productivity and effectiveness. You truly cannot work in chaos. \n\n2.\tSet a timer for ten minutes. Tackle the project you’ve been dreading and pushing off when you get to the office. Set your timer for ten minutes and dive in. Anyone can perform any task for a mere ten minutes, right? I believe so. If you know you only have to work on a dreaded project for ten minute

  • 7 Ways to Improve Your Communication Skills
[[:encoded, "You don’t have to be an amazing orator to be an effective business communicator, but you do need to have communication skills that are finely honed. If you’re an entrepreneur or a business team leader, your livelihood or your paycheck could depend upon your communication skills. \n\nWhen you talk with a business owner who has effective communication skills you simply know it. That person is: \n1.\tSuccinct\n2.\tClear\n3.\tA Good Listener\n\nIf you aren’t certain whether your communication skills are as effective as they should be, or if you know they are lacking, I’m going to share seven ways you can easily improve your business communication skills. \n\n1.\tBe complete in your communications. There is no room for being vague when you’re speaking with a client, a potential client, or a team member. Don’t leave the conversation hanging to the point where the individual has to fill in the blanks because you haven’t given all the pertinent facts. Being succinct and direct is always ideal. \n\n2.\tYou need to be clear. This goes hand-in-hand with being complete. If you are delivering a communication and you’re stumbling over your words, backtracking to fill in the blanks of the earlier part of your conversation, and being unclear, you need to take a step back and work on your communication style. When you see the eyes of the listener glaze over or if they stop taking notes, you can be rest assured they aren’t certain where the talk is going, and they have lost track of it. \n\n3.\tYou need to consider the feelings of the individual to whom you’re speaking. With whom are you speaking? Is the person on the same page or at the same level of information for the discussion you’re having? Make sure there is no information spoken that could be misunderstood as that will put the listener at a disadvantage, and he or she may feel you’re withholding information. \n\n4.\tOffer concrete details. If there are steps in a process or in a project that cannot be wavered from, you need to offer those concrete details and back it up with examples. A concrete detail will leave nothing to chance and will help clarify the overall message. \n\n5.\tAll your business communications need to be correct. This is especially true if you’re communicating via email or other written forms of communication. There is no place for spelling or grammar errors. Don’t take shortcuts or do “shorthand” in your business communications. Every written communication you send should be as factually accurate and as grammatically flawless as possible. If you don’t trust yourself to deliver this high level of correctness, hire an editor to proofread your business communications. Spelling and grammar errors may make the reader mistrust the other information you’re conveying. \n\n6.\tLook at every business communication as a way to build relationships. Off-color jokes and misinformation will not build relationships, and it might even cause the listener to put up mental barriers that will prevent him or her from truly listening to the rest of your conversation. \n\n7.\tWhen you are an effective communicator, you are helping your company grow to your next level of success. When you have a lack of communication or a roadblock to open lines of communication, the organization may collapse. \n\nTake some time to review your own personal communication skills and see if you can spot areas upon which you need to improve and then take steps to improve. \n\nThe next time you’re called upon to communicate, you want to implement five key components.\n1.\tAre you giving the listener what he or she wants and needs? If someone asks you a question, do you give a full and complete answer or is the asker left with more questions? \n\n2.\tAre you a problem solver for the person you’re talking with? If someone comes to you for an answer to a problem, be the problem-solver, or point that person in the direction of the person who is better-suited to answer the question. \n\n3.\tBe mindful of

  • The Power of Your Mind for Overcoming Limiting Beliefs
[[:encoded, "The idea to establish your business came from the belief that you could do it, that you had it in you. But then somewhere along the journey, you lost the conviction in yourself. Perhaps you wondered things like:\n\n•\tI’m too old to be venturing into this. It’s not within my capacity. \n•\tThis will consume all of me. \n•\tI won’t be able to pull it off. The risks are too great!\n•\tThe last betrayal was too great. I can’t trust people again. \n•\tI’m too old to keep doing this.\n•\tWith continual change, I can’t keep up.\n•\tIf I ask for referrals and introductions from my clients, they will think I’m too pushy.\n\nDo you know what all these statements are? They’re your limiting beliefs. They do nothing but incapacitate you and make excuses for not achieving goals that you desire. The solution for a big change and a big break is only a step away. Do you know what that step is?\n\nIt is overcoming your limiting beliefs and tapping into the power of your mindset. If you don’t know how to do that, keep reading. \n\nInitiating a Shift in Mindset to Overcome Limiting Beliefs\n\nBy overcoming your limiting mindsets, you can earn the freedom, meaningfulness, productivity, purpose, and the fulfillment you deserve. The truth is that nothing is beyond a human being’s reach, only if they put their mind to it. \n\nAll the power rests in the mindset and how you mould it to drive your success and fulfillment. Your mindset is how you think and your intuition regarding certain things. If only you could acknowledge one fact deep into your heart and mind, that limiting beliefs trigger unhappiness, you wouldn’t have difficulty changing it.\n\nIt is often an ignorance of this one vital fact that renders us incapable of overcoming the limiting mindset. A powerful and an unrestricted mindset can take you a long way. It helps you destroy all those barriers that inhibit your achievement of goals and your progress. \n\nLimiting Beliefs - Where do they come from?\n\nFirst of all, let’s understand that limiting beliefs are merely unconscious thoughts that sneak into our mind before we’ve had a chance to block them. These thoughts actually have a very cunning way of using our past bitter experiences to remind us why failure is more likely if we proceed with what we want to. \n\nHence, they stem from our past bad experiences in life or of those in our circle. But they can have other sources of origin as well. Some of those include:\n\n•\tHereditary\nWe do not refer to inheriting hereditary genes here but rather the experiences in our family circle. Limiting beliefs can stem out of the limited system of behaviors, ideas, and practices that we have seen growing up in a particular family environment. \n\n•\tPersonal Beliefs \nThese are the experiences that you have lived yourself in your life thus far and the reasons why you’ve developed some blocks. \n\n•\tSocietal and Cultural Beliefs\nSometimes, our societal and cultural beliefs can influence our confidence in our abilities and potential. There can be many cultural and societal influences that can pose restrictions on our mindset and keep us stagnant in life. \n\nControl your destiny and keep pushing forward, with force, might, determination, and confidence. Decide to do it and squash any doubts that flicker from any limiting beliefs you might have. When you tell yourself that you possess the power to do anything, then every other force pales in comparison. \n\nDo you want to know how you can change your limiting mindset and make it more powerful? If yes, here’s 6 ways to help you:\n\n1. Take Ownership of Your Decisions \nThere are times when one plans a new business venture only to discover that the enthusiasm with which they had started out with, has waned out. What happens as a result is that the entrepreneur believes that the task at hand or the business project is beyond his/her capacity to fulfill. \n\nThis is exactly the sort of poison limiting beliefs spread. What you need to do in

  • Check out my Interview with Patti Mara – Author, UpSolutions
[[:encoded, "I think you will find Patti to be helpful to you growing your business, so you can create your ideal business and ideal life. \n\nPatti Mara has worked with hundreds of entrepreneurial owned and operated businesses to reposition them for success and dramatically increase their growth, client retention, and profit. She is the author of UpSolutions – Turning Your Team into Heroes and Customers into Ravings Fans.\n\nHere are some questions I asked Patti that you will benefit from by listening to her interview:\n\n1.\tWhat are essential mindsets to position for growth even when in the midst of chaos, whether real or perceived? \n2.\tHow do you switch from transaction-based to relationship-based outcomes?\n3.\tHow to turn challenges and mistakes into lessons that fuel your growth? \n4.\tWhat are the key components to set you and your team up to win? \n5.\tLet’s talk a bit about communication. Our clients are always talking to us; however, are we really listening? \n6.\tWhat's the role of collaboration for growth and market leadership?\n\nYou can find my interview with Patti Mara at https://www.accountabilitycoach.com/my-podcast/, https://itunes.apple.com/podcast/accountabilitycoach.com/id290547573, https://podcasts.apple.com/podcast/id305208343, and on most podcast platforms and in most English-speaking countries. \n\nSubscribe to get new episodes as they are released.\n\nYou can download Patti’s TouchPoint Scorecard tool for free with a short video training, and button to find out where to buy her book, by going to \nhttps://pattimara.com/theaccountabilitycoach.\n\nMany simple and effective resources get created when I'm coaching my one-on-one clients. An issue or situation comes up and I create a resource tool to help them get an even better result. In this example, my business owner coaching client wanted to better hold his support team accountable, so I created a performance assessment tool. This enhances regular communication with each team member about their specific performance of what they are responsible for (whether internal or virtual). It lets the team member feel good about their progress and it helps the business owner feel more confident about what is being done and at what level of performance. You will benefit, just as my clients have, from utilizing this simple and effective performance assessment for every member of your team. Customize it for each person on your team based on their job description. More specifically, each team member should customize it for themselves and you approve it. Schedule a meeting every 90 days to review progress in each area you are measuring. \n \nTo download my complimentary support team performance assessment, so you can customize it for each of your team members, go to: https://www.accountabilitycoach.com/support-team-member-progress-assessment/.
