December 11-20, 2024: Mars retrograde accelerates and opens a gap to the Beehive star cluster.  The Red Planet is part of a nightly planet display that begins with brilliant Venus after sunset.

December 10, 2024: Venus steps eastward against Capricornus’ stars.  It sets later each evening and brightens during the next month.

December 9, 2024: Venus, Saturn, Jupiter, and the moon line up along an imaginary arc that spans the sky after sunset.  Mars joins the scene later during the night.

December 7-8, 2024:  During the early evening hours, the moon passes Saturn in the southern sky.  Four bright planets are visible after sundown.

December 7, 2024:  Jupiter is at opposition and in the sky all night.  The Jovian Giant is part of a four-planet display after sunset.

November 16, 2024:  Mercury is at greatest elongation east this evening. Planet Uranus is at opposition near the Pleiades star cluster.

November 15-17, 2024:  After sundown, the moon approaches and passes Jupiter.  This occurs each evening as five bright planets parade westward.

November 15-16, 2024:  The Full Beaver moon appears to be in the Pleiades during the night.  This occurs as the five bright planets are visible after sunset and during the night.

November 14-19: The five bright planets – Mercury, Venus, Saturn, Jupiter, and Mars – parade westward during the night.  They are not visible simultaneously.

November 11, 2024: Venus is at its extreme southern point.  By month’s end it is higher in the sky.  Venus, Saturn, Jupiter, and Mars are in the sky before midnight.
