News, Paul Simon, Back to Dungeon Lane and the neverending Pearl Jam drummer questions. Marv and I talk about George Harrison's favorite Beatles cover, Ye Cracke, the burden (or not) of being a Pisces and more while we digest the newly released Rubber Soul box set (that review starts next week!). #madeonzencastr.
Marv and I chat about the 2004 George Harrison (and Prince, ZZTop and Others) Rock Hall Induction. How exactly did that "While My Guitar Gently Weeps" solo happen. We also chat about the Gypsy Jazz Dark Horse George Harrison Tribute album, and Dragonflies on Kimmel. We also contemplate Paul's upcoming Kimmel Appearance (ABC in the States, Friday October 2!) and ponder Abe Laboriel Jr., Pearl Jam and what exactly is and is not definitive! #madeonzencastr.
This week - the third track from the "Rubber Soul" box set. Marv and I also chat about some new interviews with Giles Martin (connecting "Pet Sounds", George Harrison, Rick Astley, Paul Simon and Art Garfunkel), and the 1966 tour of the United States. More than just Shea 1966 and Dodger Stadium! #madeonzencastr
More of Bob Dylan and George Harrison. Most of these tracks are live, the disc starting with the rehearsals for "The Concert for Bangladesh". We wander through the red sky, drop into Porky's (where Kim Cattrall might or might not get some revenge), and end up back in Madison Square Garden during both the eighties and aughts. #madeonzencastr.
Labor Day fun with Tom Hunyady (2legs), Marv and myself covering the latest in Beatles news. Sean has a son, we get to see a long-lost Beatles (miming) appearance from "Top of the Pops", and Zak might be reuniting with Roger Daltrey and the Who... #madeonzencastr
George Harrison was working on Cloud Nine, and visited the States in early 1987. George and his producer-in-crime Jeff Lynne hooked up with Wilbury-to-be Bob Dylan and recent collaborator Duane Eddy for an evening at the Palomino Club in North Los Angeles. The headliner? Taj Mahal and the Graffiti Band including good friend Jesse Ed Davis. The result? Nearly two hours of George Harrison live with Dylan, John Fogerty and more! #madeonzencastr
Marv and I talk storytelling within the solo Beatles story. Given the documentaries and biopics covering the Beatles together and as a group, what else might make for a good film (of either type) in the near future? Ringo Starr as lead character in a "Stand and Deliver" style drama? A documentary covering the times two (or more) Beatles assembled after 1970? All this and more in this #whentheywasfab episode! #madeonzencastr.
The first of the "George Harrison and Bob Dylan" session discs. This show mostly covers the "Winter of Discontent" 1968 and May 1970 sessions, but Marv and I also meander around several other corners. More of this collaboration of titans coming soon! #madeonzencastr.
Marv, Susan and I chat about recent events in Beatles-world. We start with an extended breakdown of the contents of the various Rubber Soul releases (Vinyl, CD, Blu-Ray and more), followed by Apple's promise that "Help is on the way", Peter Asher's film and sojourn into studio two and more! #madeonzencastr.
We continue our discussion on the Paul and Declan demos. Marv relays details from recent conversations with Chris Whitten and Kevin Armstrong concerning playing on the McCartney and Macmanus demos. We also present the beginning of our thoughts on the Rubber Soul Super Deluxe Edition (due October 2), particularly "Michelle (take One)"
