The idea of an ice age with mammoths and saber-toothed tigers fascinates people. But where does it fit into biblical history?
Those who believe in an old earth say there were many ice ages over tens of thousands of years. But they don’t have a mechanism that could cause even one ice age, let alone dozens.
When we start with the Bible’s history, the ice age makes sense. The global flood of Noah’s day and its aftermath would’ve radically changed the climate. After the flood, there would’ve been warm oceans and cool summers. These conditions were perfect for tons of snow with little melting. And the result, well, was an ice age!
