In this gospel, Matthew writes of Jesus as the King of Israel. Jesus and the disciples are discussing the temple buildings when Jesus speaks a prophecy of the coming destruction of the temple, thought to be nearly impossible at that time. Then, he tells of the coming tribulation, of wars and famines, of falling away and false prophets who will mislead many. Godless, atheistic, Marxist views are a sign of the times we are living in, “But he who endures to the end will be saved.” These perilous times will end with the coming of the Son of Man.
