It seems I've spent an awful lot of time of late having to mention terror attacks and other tragedies - but we must not lose sight of the fact there has never been a better time in history to be alive (I may talk about that further in another episode).

Over the last week, one little corner of the internet that I visit occasionally went into meltdown over a video posted by a young man who was clearly in need of help.

But instead of trying to understand and help, some folks were rushing to condemn.

Look - I'm not taking a 'holier-than-thou' attitude, nor am I going to fall into the trap of condemning those who were doing the condemning.

I'm just saying that sometimes we should remember we don't know what burdens the other guy is carrying - and that we don't know if we would do any better carrying that load.

Bottom line? Let's be cool with one another.

Today's episode finds me in a grateful frame of mind.

It's easy, when you go it alone, to feel that every challenge you meet is somehow aimed at you personally to try and frustrate you in your progress.

Let me tell you, it isn't!

To my mind, the universe has far more important things to be getting on with (like making sure that physics keeps on working!) than trying to align everything in such a way as to put a crimp in my day - or in yours.

And here's a simple strategy that may help you get past that way of thinking.

When you feel like you're in the middle of a run of bad stuff happening, think about the times when good stuff happened...

...or think about the times when bad stuff nearly happened but didn't...

...or the times when bad stuff happened and you got through it, either by yourself or with the help of some amazing people.

And be thankful for all of it - even those bad times.

Because, without them, you would not have become strong enough to win through and you would not have met the amazing people who helped you.

Going through a bad time right now? You've got this!

You've been through bad times before, right?

And you're still here, right?

So you're already an old hand at this.

For the third time in just a few weeks, no intro music, no outro music and no promotion of this or any other podcast or product.

Instead, a reflection on the dreadful events in London on the evening of Saturday 3rd June - and what it means to London, to Londoners, to the UK, and to the wider world.

This is a raw, and unedited recording, so maybe I'm even less clear than I usually am in getting my message across.

I'm sure you'll understand, though, this is an emotive subject...

...but I wanted to get the message across that, no matter what they do, the terrorists have already lost before they begin.

We have love and togetherness on our side - they, whatever, their sick, twisted ideology, only have hate and division.

Does that mean we're not scared?

No! Of course, we're scared.

But we are not terrorised; we are not cowered; and we are not now, nor will we ever be bent, broken, or defeated.

In all of this, too, while it is wonderful to see all the nations of the world sending messages of support to us here in the UK - and I'm sure those more directly affected than I are grateful for that - we should not believe the UK, Europe, The US, or the western nations are uniquely affected by these acts of terror.

We feel these attacks because they are close to home - they happen on our turf in places with which we are familiar (I was walking in the London Bridge area only 2 weeks ago).

But in Mosul yesterday - the same day as this horrific attack in London - dozens of civilians were shot dead by so-called Islamic State.

We should remember, their families feel that loss every bit as keenly as we do and, for them, living where atrocities are an almost daily occurrence, these are horrors piled upon horrors.

So, as we come together in grief and with resolve, let us not exclude the people of Mosul and in those in all the other troubled places around the world from that mutual support.

I'd love it if this were the last episode I ever recorded of this nature but I fear that is unlikely.

I know these emotional ramblings probably do little good for anyone but me - but, if you choose to listen to it, and to the similar episodes that will surely follow at some point in the future, I'd like to thank you and ask you to continue the fight against the forces of evil in the best way possible. By coming together, rather than being driven apart.

I got my first job when I was 11 years old, so I have a long working life to look back over.

And in all that time, I've realised that I had one boss who was way worse than any of the others - and in today's episode, I name and shame him.
