Just over a week ago, I lost my friend Jack.

Anyone who has listened to this podcast over the past few years will know I occasionally recorded while I was walking with him.

This is the story of how I dealt with the 28 hours after his death.

It helped me to write this - I hope, if you've been through, or are about to go through something similar, it helps you, too.

In today's episode, you find me out walking with my little dog, Jack, again.

It's a beautiful morning but I'm in pensive mood, thinking about the events of the weekend not gone.

Nothing earth-shattering in a global sense but things have changed a lot chez Eyre over the past few days - and some of it is going to take some getting used to!

Over the last few weeks and months, I've learned some stuff which, if I'm honest, I would have preferred not to have to have learned. Not that they've been particularly bad or difficult - just not a barrel of laughs. But they HAVE been important... ...and they WILL improve things in very different ways. Some of the stuff I've had ...

Some of the most popular episodes of this podcast have been where I have been out walking with my dog, Jack.

This time, after a brief introduction, I start out walking with Jack but I have to leave him with the vet for some important tests...

While Jack was at the vet, I had some time to fill.

I knew it would be pointless heading back to the studio, as I wouldn't be able to concentrate on creating videos, so I went for a short walk and then off up to the allotment for some heavy-duty weeding!

I also talked to you - a lot - about what had happened to Jack, what now needs to happen, and how I feel about the whole thing. There are also a few snippets of conversations I had during the day, though these have been edited down to less than a tenth of their original length.

If that doesn't sound like your thing, then I totally understand - skip this one.

Sometimes, when things go wrong, we start to see a pattern - it can feel as though things are conspiring against us.

They're not - it's merely coincidence.

And recognising that coincidence for what it is is a major step to turning things around.
