We're joined on this journey by Andy DiGenova of . 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA was the first live action film shot by the Walt Disney company in America. Shot for the princely sum of $5 million, every cent spent on 20,000 LEAGUES UNDER THE SEA shows on the big screen. There have been few bigger productions of Jules Verne's novels and the 19th century science fiction look has undoubtedly been an influence on steampunk design. • Still Watching the Skies: 2017 Christmas Bonus Episode "Secret Santa III"
Robert, Nat, and Cody are joined by returning guest Angela Fabbrini (with Jim Laczkowski of being present in spirit) as we throw our third annual Secret Santa party. Who gave what to whom is the mystery of the episode as we take turns discussing five movies especially chosen for their recipients by their secret Santas.   Our unplanned for theme this year is eat, drink, and be merry as food and drink play a role in a significant number of movies. On tap is James Whale's divorce drama , the "ramen western" , the magical realism romance , Ashley Judd and Michael Shannon trapped in a motel room and their own delusions in , and Ken Loach's whisky themed redemption drama/heist film .   There's a lot to discuss. Did the films go down like a fine Scotch? Do we have a hankering for Mexican food? Or perhaps we'd like to savor a fine broth of ramen before wandering on to our next destination? Did we feel we got fine gifts or where there some lumps of coal sprinkled in?

  • Still Watching the Skies: Episode 40 "The Invisible Man"
Robert, Nat, and Cody take a journey back to the early days of the talkies, and prior to the Hayes Code, with 1933's THE INVISIBLE MAN.   It's safe to say that there's not much disagreement with the conventional wisdom on this film, but we talk about it at length. Plus a Cinecast tradition of mispronounced names lives on! You have to listen to find out who is continuing that tradition.    If that’s not enough, we spend the second half of the episode with Zach Snyder’s and Joss Whedon’s JUSTICE LEAGUE. It’s fair to say that we all had a lot of problems with the film amidst some highlights.

  • Still Watching the Skies: Episode 39 "The Guyver and Guyver: Dark Hero"
This month Cody, Robert, and Nat make a return to the vhs glory days of Blockbuster video with a double feature of THE GUYVER and GUYVER: DARK HERO.   But, wait. There's more. Cody and Nat have seen THOR: RAGNAROK and have a lot to say about the film. We open the mailbag and Robert answers a question about Lovecraft's relationship with Batman comics and specifically Arkham Asylum. We then play a game of Jeopardy to choose next month's film.
